His "justification" for that shit was that he wanted to make Empathy feats a better option for combat (lol) and that normal physical attacks were too powerful without some sort of resource cost. Nevermind that normal physical attacks already have a resource cost, and that's called "it can miss your target and waste your turn", and that this benefitted your enemies way more than you or your pets since your enemy starts with full SP every fight while you do not.

You're generally best off specializing a living weapon into doing a certain function very well than trying to go for a generalist build. Do you want a lot of resistances? A big boost to a stat or skill? Do you want to shut down mobs with some dark/mind/nerve element damage? Or, do you want pure elemental DPS?

Cold is best if your Element Scars are strong enough to punch through boss resistances, as Wet is easy to apply. Magic is only better if you can't Elescar for some reason.

For the same reasons Cold is best for your Attribute element if you're doing a Martial Arts build, especially since it doesn't get nerfed like Magic damage does.

As other r*dditors pointed out in the comments, the author didn't account for jiggling physics that causes big breasts to be specially floppy against air, essentially giving the dummy in his test 100% solid tits. The one that mentioned the about big boobs causing constant shifting of one's barycentre when full physics are in effect also hit the nail in the head, otherwise big breasted runners wouldn't even consider using extremely tight bras.

Man, I gotta admit that playing Elona Mobile has kind of spoiled me. Mainly just because I lack a numpad on this keyboard, and trying to remember all the hotkeys is tricky after so many years.

In comparison, well its tough because I haven't seriously played original Elona in a long time.

It seems fairly faithful, if just a lot easier/safer then I remember. Kamikaze Yeeks don't basically instantly kill you, or Hungry Ghosts can't make you starve so hard you implode.

The fact your food items rot in real time, along with Sense Quality is a mixed bag. Your character gets hungry in real time as well, so you don't usually starve unless you try for it. Some dislike it, but on the other hand, it allows a pretty steady amount of food eating.

Although having a Satiety % on display in your inventory is nice, and for all your pets. Mobile allows you to use a LOT more pets, since the number of them is tied to your level instead of CHA. Unless that got changed.

Just lots of nice little quality of life stuff, like a map that highlights important NPCs, or those with quests. Or getting little quest arrows to help guide you on quests.

Still has a janky translation though, with all the weird Engrish reading. Unsure if that's intentional by that point, or just trying to be faithful to the English translation.

tl;dr Elona Mobile seems alright
You can certainly 'pay 2 win' it since the cash stuff involves buying valuable stat boosters and such, but eh. You can get them in-game still, and honestly its much 'easier' then normal so it doesn't seem to matter as much? Dunno for sure.

Played it for a while, it's pretty good in case you just want to play a semi-vanilla Elona with nicer sprites. Gacha rerolling will be a pain though if you seek to have a better start or even some specific orange/red tag pet. My main gripe with this game, at least in the patches I played through, is that new content generally is centered all around seasonal events, and anything that stays permanently after being added are the small miscellaneous features, which didn't give me much of a reason to keep being invested in it since mods like Elona+ offer more content and replay value without the daily gacha login crap.

The Aurtehom book you find in the Truce Ground, at the southeastern corner of the building, is new, and it can be powerful if handled properly.

Note that all moves it does can increase your Insanity % and trigger insanity, so it's not something you use carelessly.

Abyss Leading is the only spell that doesn't cost Abyss Power to use. It's only use is to gather scraps of Abyss Power from junk on the map that you weren't going to bother picking up anyway. Phantom Swords is Cut damage to everything hostile on the screen. It's Violent Garden except it's bleed. Good for swatting fragile but evasive little fuckers and will kill bells and quicklings. Everything the Aurtehom does scales off of your Literacy and Magic Device skills. Can also decapitate mobs that are almost dead.

Dark Expulsion instantly kills all summoned enemies on the map. Good for countering enemies that love to spam summons and also for getting rid of critters called up from fountains, spellbook reading fails and much too excessive use of Summon Monster.

Lightless Gate is Escape that works immediately but it is very expensive on your sanity and Abyss Power. For general travel just use regular Return spells and scrolls instead, and carry some Escape scrolls with you for escaping dungeons if you can hold out. Only use Lightless Gate if you need to leave the map NOW.

Evil Guardians summons three Unitdeads, or rather the Aurtehom versions of them. Easily the best combat spell the book offers as the summons can be very high level (depending on your deepest dungeon level cleared) and be both very tanky and hit very hard with their better moves. Nothing is stopping you from summoning these guys along with putting all four actual Unitdeads on the map if you really want to make sure everything on the map dies, but the Guardians can be accessed right in Act 1 and don't require Gauge to use, so if you manage to grind up the 3000 Abyss Power to unlock them they'll be a powerful trump card.

Beckoning Seabed is bad. Just use AoE Confusion spells or spacts if you want to shut down enemy spellcasters.

Suffering Deads is Mass Resurrection with no social boosts. I suppose if you've wiped out a town with Summon Monster you could use this spell to relocate everyone to a point of your choosing for the sake of convenience or if you want to steal things. For single people/pets or small groups use normal Resurrection spells or books instead unless you don't have them.

Merciless Flood is Water-elemental Meteor to everything on the map. It won't destroy items but will destroy some walls. Very, very expensive on both sanity and Abyss Power. You can kill yourself and your pets with this if you're not careful or are just too weak.

Crazy Theater is only good if you're batshit insane and not suffering from status ailments. To be honest while this can be powerful it's the sort of thing that requires setup beforehand as being locked down by insanity is a terrible things to suffer in combat. Do not use if your enemies are suffering from insanity as it'll boost them too.

I actually find it uncomfortable to play with a numpad. You can press alt to walk diagonally which is way faster than needing to find a specific key for every direction you need to go. I've changed my config for "/" to be the special key that tracks skills and stuff, "l" to be the key that brings you into targeting mode instead of *, and made "m" the key that brings up the log. The only thing that doesn't work is that it looks like you absolutely need the "*" key to hide spells for some reason. It's a shame that the rebinding in this game is so shitty and limited because I'd like to change more like unbinding the shift key from having an escape function.

Did you get the little girl from Vernis? She is a much better fighter than a brand new character fresh out of the cave and can help you with Harvest Time quests killing things while you pick produce. Also consider getting a grenade-type weapon, putting it in your Shoot slot (keep your Ammo slot blank) and throwing it at enemies; the Grenade invoke is the most damaging thing brand new PCs have access to. Do not throw Grenades if your little girl is right next to your target as she'll get caught in the blast.

For getting stuff to equip/use/sell stick with raiding the first floor of Puppy Cave repeatedly. Do not venture deeper until both you and your little girl get much stronger.

For storing your excess items (and there will be plenty of items) use the very first floor of Lesimas as you can immediately access it from the world map and since it's a static dungeon stuff in it won't disappear on you. As you get stronger you can use deeper levels of Lesimas to store more and more things.

Tag Teaming is great early on when you're playing a pet build, and is still kind of useful later on. Less tile coverage when you have more than 6 pets and you could tag a defence-orientated pet with a squishy pet (or you) so that they can cover damage for them. Otherwise you could tag team two strong melee attackers together and now you have two melees on a single tile attacking at the same time.

It has its downsides, sure, but even if I'm not in a pet build I tend to tag team the 'starter' Little Girl from Vernis with myself so that she doesn't run into infiinity and getting herself killed when I haven't gotten the appropriate tools on hand yet. For exploring you'd be looking for api nuts, imo, healthy leaves, etc.

An easy way to make food early on is to just walk a tile out of Vernis (preferably on the road), and just keep entering a random wilderness tile (press enter or space), then gather up the few random ingredients that spawn. Bonus if a fruit tree is on the map, so you can get that.

It's why I always start with Cooking, because cooked food is much better.

Cooking is really worth investing into as well from as early as possible. They rake in a lot of money from shops, whether they be normal shopkeepers or your own shop. If levelling Gardening as well you could end up spending months or even years setting up shop next to Yowyn for easy plat coins from doing the Harvest Time quests there while you're at it and to pass time.

You can also steal the food from Vernis and Yowyn, or eat them right on the spot if your Pickpocket is nonexistent.

But the king of noob PC food sources are Harvest Time quests. All the produce laying around can be eaten right from the soil, no need to pick them first. Though since you'll want to actually complete the quest as well you should stick to produce that weight so little you wouldn't want to bother picking them anyway - all cherries except the really big ones, and all produce grown tiny or small.

All of them. Every single skill a pet can save has some use for them barring the armor and weapon skills they may never use (but everyone has them anyway so it's moot). Pickpocket lets the pet gain some money every time they kill something, for instance, and Performer lets the pet add half their Performer skill to yours when Ensemble is used, which is why it can be so powerful with even a couple pets.

TL;DR Put every single skill on all of the pets you are using.

This. Theres no real reason not to put every skill on your pet, a lot have side benefits and the more skills they have the more opportunities they have to increase their attributes. You can get a majority of skills from the pets the derphy slave merchant sells.

I've got a question about the bitflags pets can have, obviously the bells have the metal flag which is good, which other pets standout with good bitflags/ skills/spells.

To be honest, pets have a far easier time raising attributes then you. I wish I knew what secret trainers they visit that accept gold to do training.

Though I admit, this is probably helped by Custom letting you divvy out your performance cash to your pets automatically, instead of having to give it to them via ore. My little girl is way stronger then me.

Also learning the Goose is fragile as hell. Claymore life is rough, especially when I'm not good at gear selection to be honest. I know I need to cover resistances, but... I guess its something I appreciated about Mobile having color coding to go alongside the 'grades'.

But that's just also nice colors.

Feed them cooked corpses that give resistances to start with. For more defense, don't forget that Alchemical Rain with potions of resistance is a thing to give Attribute Shield to the entire party at once. In fact, Alchemical Rain with potions that give buffs will make your pets a lot less fragile for boss fights.

For regular mobs you're better off shutting them down with status effects and Mist of Silence.

To add to this, if you can only give one resistance to a pet, make it magic. It's the only resistance not covered by Attribute Shield and it contributes half its strength to the damage reduction of other elements. It'll help the pet shake off enemy hexes from spells, too.

It takes a long time because they only train when they succeed, which at 0% is almost never. What I do is put the untrained ability at the top of the list so they always try to do it and let them loose in the puppy cave.
