This. So much this.

Might as well throw out my input anyway while I'm waiting: While from one side or the other it may seem like both are just "communities playing a game," once you've seen both you'll understand that it really isn't like that at all.
Typical IRC conveniences such as knowing when regulars are on, talking between matches, highlights, etc are pretty great and do make things easier, but you have to realize that the community there is drastically different from the community here; while the usual /jp/ portrayal of #hisouten, usually something along the lines of bloodthirsty elitist tourneyfags, isn't quite right it contains and applies to completely different types of persona than over here in 4chan. It's not a stretch to say that there are a bunch of Gaia xD faggots who everyone manages to get along with just fine, but overall since most of them stay around there and treat it as more of a fanbase than as a soku playing zone (like these threads are) you'll deal with everyday shit like powerlevel arguments and bob51 trolling while here there's no point since you can just do that shit in another thread.

So, for the most part, while a few people may hang in both /jp/ and IRC soku communities are totally different. I won't deny that I think most IRCfags are real bros, but ultimately when I want to play this game and have an enjoyable time I'll come over here.

Aaaand just the person I was hoping for. GGs, Duckator.
I've been wondering, though: is your name pronounced "DUCK-a-terr" or "Duck-EIGHT-or?" It's been on the back of my mind since I first saw you using it and I think it's gonna bother me forever until I find out. I'm one of those pronunciation faggots who's deep enough into it to do shit like argue Cirno is pronounced "CHEER-no" so I end up feeling endless shame if I find out I'd been saying something wrong. I'm also the one you see getting onto Chrono Trigger-playing 8-year-olds for saying "MASS-uh-moon" if that says anything.

ANYWAY! Yeah, great games, I think we had some weird order problems going through the cast though. I started with my mains and went down until I eventually ended up on toohoos I'd never seriously played before, while it looks like you were going backwards. Ouch.

Your Sak is a monster though, first time I'd seen anyone use Perfect Maid right without constantly whiffing and leaving our poor meido defenseless; then again, ever since Magister picked her up I'd been pretty terrified of Sakuyas in general so I'm overcautious as fuck, hence the lame BEs and and constantly getting pressured without returning fire. I can't stand playing her to tell the truth, but eh, I bet I'll get over it soon. Hopefully.

Well, thanks for the games bro, was fun playing you after all this time.

>> No.3907450

Anybody have any advice for fighting characters with long range melee and heavy bullet support with Remilia? One of my friends loves using Yuyuko and Yukari and regardless of how I handle bullet pressure, getting in close is always risky because of the aforementioned long range (see: Yukari's 6A). I usually manage to top it with a deck that allows me to switch between Demonlord Walk and Trickster Devil a lot. Also learning how to use Demonlord Arrow as a makeshift counter to the dash attacks with longer recovery frames.

>> No.3907508

>>3907450
That all depends on how they're utilizing their pressure. From the sounds of things they're probably spam-happy and just spend the entire beginnings of rounds filling the screen with projectiles and going from there, in which case default 22B/C is more useful than you'd think. Trickster Devil, while at least better than rekkas for grazing, pales in comparison to DLW in terms of getting through heavy bullet pressure so you may just want to avoid alt 236 entirely.

As long as you DO get in though, you always have options like DP reversals and hj8 j.2A (unless this is trollwheel Yukari we're talkin'), as well as commonly overlooked stuff like 2/6A and Bison slide. And don't forget 5C density, which will save you more than you think.
I'm no Remiria master myself though, I'm just the faggot that forces phoon and spams bloodsuck then spends hours chortling about it.

>>3907423
Oh, okay. Going through the trouble to redownload that is a bitch though, hence why hardly anybody's done it; someday I think I'll just make a thread about it here on /jp/ out of the blue and maybe a few faggots will take some time out to play it because mild nostalgia.
It's so fast, though, it feels balls weird to play right after running a lot of soku. Try it out, you'll see what I mean.

I love catching him with CH 2A on wakeup and I usually end up Bison Sliding under Yuyuko's 66C a lot. He usually switches up between fits of melee and bullet spam, hence why I have a deck for switching between DLW and alt 236 a lot. j6A combos pretty much force limit whenever I can get an air combo going. CH j2A 2A 6A works nice and 5C is nice, but I usually end up with the alt.214 spears for screen clearing. 5C keeps its uses for extending air combos too. Although I do miss its old spirit damage from 10.5.

Remi's 5C easily deals with Yuyuko's butterfly spam. If you have the range, try to get away with charging it. Even if you have to dash cancel out of it after only firing 2, two C bullets will punch through nearly anything Yuyuko has. Don't fucking bother with 22BC, it's a worthless skill against anyone who knows what they're doing. Maybe toss it in after a 5C if you're feeling ballsy, but all in all it is not worth it. Use 236BC, or if Yuyuko is midair already, use 214BC

Yukari is a bitch. The best I can tell you is to make use of 214BC. IIRC, those bullets are tough enough to get through her 5B, and spread out enough to get around her 5C. It's tough, though

Good games, Yggdrasiface. Sorry that my Patchy is so scrubby and reliant on j.5C. I'll try to get better! I was finding it really hard to land the main BnB I worked on against you; I'll have to give it some more work, because it definitely seems really useful.

GGs, Akagi. It's interesting to see how your game is changing. I noticed you slipped in that white vortex alt skill card and started BEing some, but both need some work. Dunno what the white vortex replaced, but I didn't feel that it was putting too much pressure on me when you used it. Don't know if that's the nature of the card or how you were using it, sorry. Was also happy to see you 66C into j.623 for a limit combo. Out of curiosity, how many of each alt skill are you putting in your deck, particularly the butt-stomp? It seems to me as though you use one of them the moment you get the opportunity. If it's the case that you're relying on those alt skills, maybe you should consider sticking in a few more if possible. Only other point of note is that you really need to watch for crossovers more. My Komachi just walks all over with crossover j.2As, though I wish my Iku could achieve the same effect... Thanks for the games, t'was fun as always. Don't take my stream of advice to mean anything in particular, just noticed a bunch of shit simultaneously.

>> No.3911094

>>3911038
That's great advice, thanks. I just added the white vortex right now to see what I can do with it, it replaces the gravity 22C, which I used to replace with the gravity grab.

>how many of each alt skill are you putting in your deck, particularly the butt-stomp?
You're the first one to experience my new changes. Removed all my 3c triple punch which I never learned to use properly, and one almost unusable 5c grab, replacing them with alt skills. I currently have 3 stomps, 3 lava boulders, 3 white vortex and 3 mini suikas.

And yeah, Komachi's crossover is one of my weaknesses.

>> No.3911311

>>3911094
Okay, yeah, that all sounds good aside from the punch cards. Understandable why you removed'em, but continue to play with'em on occasion. They're pretty good by all accounts. One other consideration, if white vortex doesn't work out, maybe throw in some rock tossing spell cards. A lot of people panic when they see that, making for some easy damage. And speaking of easy damage, you need to watch your hitconfirms some more. You keep cutting your dial-A short with the gourd slam move. Think you're doing it for the orb damage from high-blocking it, but if the opponent's not blocking, it's just wasted damage, unless there's some other benefit I'm unaware of like not being able to groundtech afterwards (don't recall...).

>> No.3911414

>>3911311
I do the gourd slam because I feel it's safer than the full dial A. I mean, there are less punishing moves after a blocked gourd slam because Suika's lying on the ground. But other than that, your right, I should just finish my dial A when I land the first two hits, it's just hard to predict when the first hits wont be blocked.

Good games profile3p! (strange name to have, really) Pretty enjoyable and close games (despite several lopsided rounds), although for some reason Youm Sword skillcard kept failing to activate on Meirin dial-A combo on hitconfirm, causing me to drop 4k combos constantly. I think I'm done for now. Great games as always, Saje. Don't mind me, I'm just gonna complain for a bit.

AAAAARRRRGGHHHH WHY IS MY PATCHY SO BAD? All I wanted to do was try to make a melee Patchy, but I end up failing whenever I get into melee range and have to go back and 5C/j.5C/j.2C -> 236C/6C/etc. Goddamn, she has some pretty good up-close combos, but I get stuffed everytime I go for them!

Anyways, our Alice/Iku matches were surprisingly intense; I really had a lot of fun using her against you. Maybe (hopefully!) I'll be able to learn Alice better so as to pose an even greater challenge.

>> No.3912603

GGs "Last time I played Alice it was so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad" Guy. I've seen far worse attempts at her than that, trust me. What was with the anti-Saje Typhoons? That one that started while I was in the middle of blocking Marisa's B bullets had me laughing. Couldn't have asked for worse timing. Happy with the way the Iku matches went. It's like something finally clicked in place so that it was more than just 6C j.6C, repeat. Sad that it took this long, considering how much I play her, but never look a gift horse in the mouth. Thanks for the games. Fun as always.

>AAAAARRRRGGHHHH WHY IS MY PATCHY SO BAD?
>5C/j.5C/j.2C -> 236C/6C/etc
You answered your own question. Don't worry, it takes a while. Her bullets move too fast to serve as really good cover while you approach and her 5A/j.5A is fairly short range, though I appreciate what range it has after playing Cirno for a few rounds. Truth be told, I have no clue what I do with her outside of a few strings like Geyser/Dew Crystals HJC7 land Flame Sword (God I love that one, but I either couldn't get the sword or the speed right when playing your Reisen ;_;)

Hahahahaha, I was actually trying to force the typhoon, but I honestly didn't time it to my bullets at all; that was just perfect. I just sort-of sat back with a blissful smile on my face and said, "superb." As for Iku, well, if I run stupidly into dat scarf one more time...goddamn, that was frustrating.

Oh, and for my Patchy: I was trying to do my 5AA 4B 6C 236C BnB because it hits for about 2600 without skill levels or control rods, by my melee was getting stuffed and Patchy's jump-ins in order to set-up a dial-A combo are horrible.

Good games Johan. Looks like you haven't lost a step since the last time--or perhaps you're even better than before. You must be quite a lag warrior, considering how you don't seem to have many input issues through that mess. Of course, since I was defending all day, missing inputs for you probably wasn't a big deal.

Not much to comment about besides the obvious skill difference, and it's redundant to lament about being unable to defend or attack optimally in subpar playing conditions.

Also, man that connection is annoying, especially for WC to West. I'm already bad enough as Marisa and Youmu as it is, having half of my inputs dropped isn't helping me. It's especially annoying because the way you play doesn't even seem to be affected by it. Is it only happening to me or something?

Speaking of breaking time, that legendarily long loading screen was Firefox being a dick and freezing for whatever reason. Problem's fixed now, but ugh. Sorry about that.

ANYWAY, while the Badlice fiasco left me astounded and confused, that Meiling of yours is still in as top a shape as ever; Treerno hardly gets a chance to touch her, but that also has a lot to do with limb stubbiness issues, hence the fairly one-sided matchup. Good games, Guy. I swear, this game challenges itself to find exciting new ways to interpret my DP parries when I play as Youmu. So far I've seen a forward dash, a C, a 236 and a 214. Possibly more that I forgot.

Alice mirrors were great, I got a chuckle out of all the 4-cost doll sword card whiffs. Also, I can't believe I actually won a match as Remilia. Maybe I should try to use her more.

Also, I forgot how intimidating your Meiling is. I mean geez, I was nearly paniccing in that Yukari vs Meiling match where you got me to like 1 health.

Good games, Lurker. I love our bad-Alice matches; I saved the replay where we opened up the match with a simultaneous 6A-whiff, that was hilarious. Anyway, your flowchart Yukari is still goddamn fierce, and my Marisa is still horrible at landing her combos, hahaha. I pretty much facepalmed in the middle of our match when you whiffed a parasol spin in the air, and I completely whiffed my punishment of it.

Most of those are dumb luck, not psychic. Infact probably half of my hits with 623 and 66C are just randomly using them and hoping for the best because I'm stupid.

You say that, but I'm the one who runs into every single one without fail. Also, as for your Remilia win, if you get better with her, she'll probably give me quite a bit of trouble. Other than the Remi tripfriend, I've never fought a decent Remilia, so I have no idea what the hell to do against her.

At least my flowchart Meiling has some semblance of pressure still! I'll need to update my flowchart, though.

That's enough for me; nice to see you again, Nipah! Man, those Alice/Cirno matches were frustrating; my 6A or f.5A would always stop a frame short of hitting you, my 5A would arbitrarily decide to come out instead of my f.5A, I'd hit the spellcard too late and drop my dial-A doll bomb combo, and, last but not least, I'd run into your goddamn 5C and ice car almost everytime you used it.

Fuck.

I mean, seriously. Next time we fight, just randomly do ice car, because I'm pretty sure my subconscious thinks that it is my CIVIC DUTY to leap into the path of the ice car, holy shit. Anyways, nice to see that you're not too rusty, good games!

Good games, Casaubon. I suggest doing 5AAA 2B hjc9 j.5A j.6A j.5C as your BnB, and try to remember to just do hjc9 j.5A j.6A j.5C every time you land 2B, unless you have your alt 22C skill. Don't be afraid to j.6A after a blocked j.5A, and don't be afraid to mash j.5A after an air-blocked alt 22C. Also, unless the weather is typhoon and you can be sure it will hit, try to only use the 3-card flying kick spellcard when you can chain it off of something like 5AAAA. Mmm, other than that stuff, and watching out for careless air-techs, I don't have too much else to say. Oh, one last thing: with Meiling, be careful of using her default 214B/C; it can almost always be punished on block. What you want to do is get the spacing just right so only the tip of the orb hits the person; that way you can block if they manage to block the attack.

Good luck working on Meiling! Shame about the random lag, though.

Your Marisa pressure is improving a bit, but you've gotta watch out for places in your corner strings where someone can just jump out for free; there are a lot of people who are actually good at defense, and would probably easily capitalize on those gaps. Anyways, blah blah blah my Alice is bad blah blah my Marisa has no combos blah blah Meiling too fast dropped combos.

Thank you anon for believing in me. I am actually in practice mode right now trying to get my timing down on stuff but more than anything I have trouble getting back to a fighting game mindset. Just repeatedly making amateurish mistakes like not chaining into supers, abusing empty jumps or bait moves so it becomes stupidly obvious to whomever I'm fighting, throwing out an air tech because I don't know how else to respond and getting punished horribly, etc. I'm sure it's a matter of being out of practice, I just wish there were some intermediary mode between Lunatic computer which doesn't even use spell cards and people who been playing at least semi-consistently ;_; .

I'll be back tomorrow night though, I'll put on some Journey and have a training montage beforehand.

Well, from what I can tell so far in practice mode is that Remi seems to be a very strong crossup type character but she could potentially have a good corner game as well.

In the corners, what seems to work is a lot of variation into Vampire Kiss B. Although I wouldn't overly rely on it due to its low damage, I think you can make a case for it overwhelming inexperienced players in conjunction with Vampire Claw instead of Trickster.

For example, against a cornered opponent, with claw you could try:
>AAA B C 236B 236C 236C/623B
In the last step, you can delay a low guard crush with 236C or go for a vampire kiss instead, requiring a defensive player to make a reaction save to your attack. Make note you want to use 236B instead of C since it comes out faster.

There is some room to escape at the B C moment but you can instead try
>AAA B 623C/236C
B seems to put the opponent in enough block stun to let you freely continue the pressure with 236B or go for a kiss. Again, assuming the person is waiting for you to make a mistake, he must guess which combo path you're going down.

From 236B/C tactics, you can aim for a crush at the end of the rekka, or stop midway to reset your string and continue the pressure. You can also keep a pillar card handy to feint a mistake or cover one and punish him with it.

The Vampire Claw into Vampire Kiss seems good and I'll incorporate it into a new deck. Currently I'm not using Claw much because my opponents greatly prefer defensive play coupled with high amounts of bullet cover over aggressive rushdown of any kind (I blame myself for relentless rushdown on them when we all started playing the game), so Demon Lord Walk becomes a huge asset for punishing laggy bullet setups. Furthermore, I usually spend half the match whacking their shield, wishing Remilia had better guardcrush options. Add that to my friends seeing Vampire Claw coming and knowing to block low on the third hit in case of an oncoming guardcrush, I usually end up back where I started, since the B version doesn't guardcrush. Ah, I wish guardcrushing was as easy for remilia as it was for my other mains. Tenshi, Youmu and to an extent, Sakuya.
