Yeah, it's more their life than idolfaggotry in general. 25 isn't old except in the sense that you aren't given the benefit of being considered "young" by most people, even if your mentality is still there. It also means your peers are likely making careers or starting to raise families, so it is likely your hobbies are transitioning to a new generation of fans who you may relate less with.
Take out the particulars and they are dealing with an existential problem that is likely gnawing some of their former compatriots and the idols they once supported as well:

the realization that things i loved talking about and sharing with others weren't subjects they were passionate about down to the core, but merely ways to spend their time before settling down was very painful and still is. idol otaku aren't the only types to feel this way.
