So what is the difference between Otaku and Nerds/Geeks?

From what I understand, Otaku tend to be very conservative and hostile to non-Japanese concepts compared to our liberal worldview and fondness of foreign cultures.

I'm not saying that all Nerds have good taste, but people who listen to girl bands who can't sing as an excuse to see the choreographed upskirts and giggles... Well, there's just something flawed in their head.

Story of my life. But I'm not an Otaku. Just your casual viewer with a high-level powerlevel in terms of animu or VNs. Also, Otaku is a fandom or a craze or a hobby to something. Most of you think it's just for ani-ota.

Otaku and nerd are the same thing, but in different languages.

'Otaku' is 'Geek'. The only defining characteristic is the obsession with a particular interest, thus 'eiga-otaku'==movie geek; 'densha-otaku'==train geek, trainspotter(?); 'ani-ota'==anime geek('otaku' in western cultures); and so on.
