What about a war declaration? Does the demon army still instagib a country you're engaged in war with? If it'll stall the demon army, I guess I can carve through Akashi and declare war on Takeda and Mouri.

I'm really hurting for good quality foot soldier generals. Even the ones I have now, too many of them are garbage with 3 INT and such. But I don't know where to pick up usable foot soldier generals and I know a student commander is just going to have DEF and INT values of 1 or 2.

It's more that Miko Institute gives you a general who can remove 30% of every enemy's health, and Tanegashima gives you a Musketeer who can one-shot any unit far more reliably than the ninja's Assassinate than the territories themselves.

Ah, yeah. It all fell into place like dominoes. I had it under control but after I cleaned up Iga and Tenshi, Asai-Asakura declared war on me next turn, or I would have gone after Tanegashima or Tokugawa.

Then I punch through Asai-Asakura and Kenshin immediately declares war on me, and I rushed through Uesugi because I was afraid Kenshin would die if I took too long.

Actually, is it feasible to take down Takeda early on? I've never tried it. I'm pretty sure their cavalry would rape me senseless. Maybe I could capture some cavalry units early on, though...

I was in a pretty similar position to OP in my first turn. 'cept I didn't have iga but captured tokugawa and hanny town.
Having xavier take takeda and blitz me from there was kinda painful. But after a few turns you get that auto conquer scene and all was happy again.

It's basically Isoroku's whirlwind shot only she needs to be in the front row but as a trade off she does stupidly high damage if her auto-kill fails. Recruit her, give her the worker bee before hiring more troops for her and then raise her up with some papers or just recruit some troops if you have the money spare.

Tanegashima for Yuzuhara or go for the dogs and get Senhime (and take over Hanny territory using the purple event for free NP). I'd personally grab Senhime since she's one of my best units in every game.

I'm still on my first play through and was in the exact same situation as you, I started war with the tokugawa/dog guys, and then suddenly DEMONS, DEMONS EVERYWHERE!
I held on killed the dogs, started fighting the hannys and the demons had ALL of the rest of the map apart form the one eyed house, I barely held on to my territories each turn and then suddenly, turn 100 comes and BOOM You auto conquer every demon province but the old shimazu ones.

So yeah, if you think you can last that long you might survive, do go for the miko institute or tanegashima, i really wanted those guys but thought i had time and then they got conquered.

That's odd, when I stack it actually won't appear till I hit the exact mark. At least for the 150+ ones. It's not that I have anything suppressing it and I'm using up the one shots thinking I need to hit the 150 mark either. I usually blow my sat bonuses on things like +3 affection, unless using that somehow gives me a chance to bring it to the front.

The battle was half over now, and the outcome was already clear. Honda Masano whimpered as Oda's counter-attack came into formation. Young Mayu's vanguard unit was sure to be annihilated.
Leading the charge, Aburako Dousan raised a fist to the sky "I'm Aburako, daughter of Aburasumashi! Let's be oily!" The men yelled a response of "Youkai Ward!" as they charged into the line of spearmen, easily slipping through the spear wall without a single casualty.
Akashi's defeat that day would be the stuff of legends.

... Well, I might have to add a fourth war onto my list and fight through Takeda to reach Kazusa 2000 without taking their southwestern territory... At some point Takeda took Edo while I was busy assaulting Mouri, luckily I didn't have to fight Akashi, just slaughtered Tanegashima.

I did this in the most ass backwards manner, didn't I? Shouldn't have gone for Kenshin if I wanted to go towards Mouri first.

In any case, ending the turn with the option for the Oil Dungeon up just prompted the beginning of the true history route's temple event Kou-napping. And then ignoring that for a bit and running into the dungeon merely prompted gory bits of Ran on my shoes, which I did not enjoy. I suppose I could go Kenshin's route, but I truly was looking forward to using Chinu for once.
