There are a few truants in every school.

If you are a truant in elementary school and junior high school, you can receive a diploma even if you never go to school or have a bad attitude in Japanese elementary and junior high schools. So, you can graduate without using home schooling. This is legal.

In high school, if you don't attend enough days of school, you will be expelled, so most truant students transfer to correspondence high schools (however, in Japan, there is a tendency to consider correspondence high schools as the bottom of the academic ladder and something to be ashamed of).

Home schooling is not familiar to my generation. Homeschooling is not familiar to my generation, but it is gradually becoming known to younger generations than my own.

There are no fines for not attending school.

Japanese students pay a lot of attention to international students, even without the fact that international students and foreigners are rare in Japan. Japanese students want to get to know them. This is because Japanese people have a strong yearning to go abroad, especially to English-speaking countries.

However, Japanese students cannot speak English even though they have studied for more than six years since junior high school. This is not because English and Japanese are too different, but because Japanese education focuses on grammar and spelling, and there are no opportunities to speak at all.

In fact, the highest level of the EIKEN certification, which measures English proficiency, is so difficult that even native speakers cannot obtain it. Nonetheless, even if you pass that exam, it is not clear whether you can speak English.

There was once a foreign student from the United States who came to my school. I wanted to be his friend, but I could not speak English at all. The most I could do was ask him what his favorite food was.

Therefore, foreigners who come to Japan may feel that Japanese people are cold, but Japanese people want to be friends with them, but they just can't say anything!

High school girls in Japan sometimes fold the waist part of their skirts to shorten the length. This is to make their legs look longer and to make them look prettier. This naturally leads to underwear being visible on stairs.

Basically, folding a skirt is a violation of school rules. If you are caught, you will be punished. Therefore, students should do it when they are not being watched by teachers.

Also, high school girls are aware that their underwear can be seen, so they often wear some kind of short pants over their underwear. That is called ”見せパン(Mise Pan)”. The meaning is "pants that can be shown.

In junior high school, school rules often require students to wear short-sleeved and short-pant gym clothes over their underwear before wearing their uniforms in the first place. So even if you lift up a junior high school student's skirt, you won't be able to see their underwear.

I am happy with where I live. It's close to Tokyo, so it's easy to go out and have fun.

There are two types of countryside in Japan: the first is where there used to be normal suburbs, but the population has decreased, development has ceased, and slightly older houses have been built. Such places were not originally countryside, so there is no scenery like in the anime.

The second is the real countryside. These are old villages in the mountains. Here, there are many places that really look like anime. The people who live there are just like the old men and women in the anime.

However, if you don't want the whole area to look like an anime, you can feel the atmosphere of the countryside like in anime in all kinds of places in Japan. For example, there are small shrines.

The scenery you have attached is more like the first of the two types of countryside.

(1)I don't like discrimination. I'd rather listen to foreigners talk and want to be a friend. because foreigners themselves are rare in Japan. However, because foreigners are rare in Japan, they stand out. The further away you are from the center of the city, such as Tokyo, the more noticeable it becomes. The reason why Japanese people pay attention to foreigners is simply because they are rare. There is no sense of discrimination there. Also, some Japanese people are a little afraid of people of African descent or other races that have a larger average body size than Japanese people. This is also because they have not seen many foreigners. Most Japanese people pay attention to foreigners because of their ignorance.
(2)There are geeks who like old things, but they are really rare. The percentage increases when the generation is a few years older than you.

This is a difficult question.
Foreigners are rare in Japan. They stand out because you can tell the difference between an Asian Japanese and a non-Asian foreigner at a glance. Children think there is something different about them on their own without being told. They may even give them nicknames based on their appearance. However, children don't see this as discrimination or harassment, but as genuine. For example, if a child has a mole on his face, you might give him a nickname based on that mole, or if a child is fast, you might name him Cheetah.

The problem is not the different colors, but the ratio of colors. 99 out of 100 people have the exact same foot speed, and no one person is faster than the other. Everyone is a little different, so people with halfway decent foot speed don't stand out. However, for example, in the case of a black child, he is the only one who fits the black category. So, it is seen as a more alien difference. If there were an equal number of black children and Japanese children in the school, the children would think that black people are plentiful and not uncommon, and would not think about racial differences. And the black children would not be subjected to racial epithets and would not feel uncomfortable.

You can wear a trouser uniform if you wish. However, many girls enter the school because they want to wear the school uniform or a skirt. The school uniform is also clothing that can be worn to places such as funerals and ceremonies. In Japan, Seifuku has a great deal of value. It is also a part of the culture, so it is difficult to make changes.

I have never been concerned about crime. Some people sleep on the train with their purse on their lap. You can go out alone at night. Of course, this doesn't mean that there is no crime. But no one expects it to happen to them on a daily basis. That's how safe it is!

>I come from a sandnigger village so it always bothers me.
Not the Japanese of the thread, European remark, and I would know if it's the same in Japanese culture ..

Reading the Koran, hadith etc. Bible, some Hindu and Buddhist stuff etc. the most striking but little known difference between the Islamic world and the Christian world is mental sinning:

The Koran has no commands of the sort (only the hadith talking about women having to dress appropriately), and allows for relatively easy divorce and remarry.

The new testament on the other hand considers thinking sexually of someone you are not married to/would not be allowed to marry to be a sin, enough for being a reason for divorce, without the option of remarrying
(marriages in Christianity are 100% permanent, death the only way out, Christians not going to hell are either virgin, married to the only person they had sex with, or widow.)

Therefor the culture in once christian countries assumes that you can look at anything and control your thoughts, therefor there is no problem with a male doctor looking at a naked women,(or female doctor at a man) wrong sexual thoughts themself are a sin and a good person will not have such thoughts. .

This is also the reason why christian countries can be offended by veils, the veil assumes that you are sinning, looking at the women inappropriately, not having control of yourself.
On the other hand new Muslim immigrants/refugees sometimes look at women with eyes that make the women uncomfortable, it being possible to tell that they have no control about the nature of their mind when faced with "temptation"...

This being said, what are the Japanese approaches to mental sin? .. just in case you are familiar with the Shinto/Japanese Buddhism approach to the matter.

He is now in France, doing only video distribution. The content is that the viewers ask him questions in a super chat and he answers them. This has become so popular that Hiroyuki's YouTube channel now has over a million subscribers. Around this time, he started appearing on TV and other media, and became popular as the king of debunking, debunking his opponents in dialogue-style shows. He can be quite entertaining to watch as he makes fun of his opponents and irritates them.

Hiroyuki's famous line, "That's just your opinion, isn't it?" is one of his famous lines. This is also popular. It's used when the other person says something unfounded.

"写像? What's a 写像?" This is also popular. This is another popular one, which he used in an interview when the woman he was talking to mentioned the word '写像' in her speech. The word "写像" is a bit stiff, and not a word that is used in everyday life. However, if you are Japanese, you can understand the meaning of the word. (Each kanji has its own meaning, which can be inferred from these two characters.)

After this, the woman said to Hiroyuki, "It's not good (that you don't know 写像)", to which Hiroyuki replied, "It's rude", and finally the woman was beaten up.

There certainly is such a thing!

It's the kind of thing where you pretend to hate it, but somewhere deep down you're happy, or you really hate it, but in the end you're happy. This is traditional and has existed for a long time. This culture of saying the opposite of what you feel inside is called "tatemae". You can look it up if you like.

But in reality, the percentage of this kind of thing is not that high. There are many that are just plain happy with the act!

Not so long ago, during the idol boom, Japanese idols such as AKB48 were at the centre of the boom. Today, however, kpop is the mainstream, and more and more Japanese idols resemble kpop.

Not so long ago, during the idol boom, it was the otaku who paid for the idols, while the general public just listened to the songs. But as Korean idols became more popular, even non-nerds in Japan started to pay for them. Nowadays, it is natural for people to pay greedily for things they like, not just idols. We believe that Japanese idols laid the foundations for this and that Korean idols have spread the word to the general public.

Perhaps that's why it's so popular with Japanese otaku. The blue-eyed girl appears in some very old manga as a beautiful girl from another country. And they still appear in anime today. In Japan, where there are few foreigners, blue eyes stand out more. This is probably why otaku find girls with blue eyes so beautiful, because they look so different from their Japanese counterparts.

There are two ways in which Japanese otaku view women: firstly, romantically, and secondly, as objects of "moe" (similar, but slightly different, to "kawaii"). In this case, we look at it like we look at a dog, so we don't include it romantically as a member of the opposite sex. Probably this one.

So many to choose from! If you come to Japan, I'll take you to lots of great restaurants!

Natto (fermented basedbeans) is very familiar to Japanese people, but it is famous for its smell, so you might want to test your mettle. You can also try the very sour umeboshi.

When an American student came to my school before, he said that the Japanese hamburger chain called "Mossberg" was delicious. He loved it so much that he ate it three times. Mos Burger also has a kind of hamburger called "rice burger" which is made of rice and meat.

Okonomiyaki is like a pancake without the sweetness, but it has seafood inside, and you put hot sauce on top. Most okonomiyaki restaurants have a griddle at each table where you order and cook the flour and other liquids. It's fun to go there with friends!

Ramen is also great. You can find Japanese ramen in other countries, but you have to try it in Japan. There are so many different types of ramen that even the most ramen-loving Japanese will find something they like and something they don't like, so you should try it more than once!

If you have the money, try the expensive sushi. Most foreign tourists go for conveyor belt sushi, where the sushi is put on a plate and moves around the restaurant on a conveyor belt, but the reality is that conveyor belt sushi is good, but it's not the best sushi. If you eat expensive sushi made by a chef in front of you, you will be impressed!

How often do Japanese girls date other girls? Is it common when they're in high school? Does it happen among adults too or is it something that's considered just a phase for younger women and they eventually marry a man like it's often said on the net?

1. from an outsider perspective, it seems like the japanese is really into the concept of anonymity especially those that are into otaku culture. while this is also true in the western side of the community (hence why we're all here) it is definitely not as extreme as the Japanese where it seems like the only people that identify themselves are those that are famous. is there any social reasons behind it?
2. is blogging culture is still a thing in japan or everyone have moved to Twitter?
3. why's japanese creators likes to delete all of their works from existence when they've retired?

thanks!

It's not just about not saying what you really think. Tatemae is the act of putting the facilitation of communication ahead of one's own opinion. So, basically, you can't be hurt by tatemae. This is a very difficult feeling. Japanese people also do not use tatemae consciously. We use it unconsciously. And sometimes, even if you are a native speaker of Japanese, if you don't feel tatemae in the way you speak, you can even guess that this person is not Japanese. This is how embedded tatemae is in the foundation of Japanese people.

No one is offended by a foreigner's inability to use tatemae! Don't worry!

Basically, Japanese people do not watch dramas very hard. They watch them only to pass the time. Housewives often watch them in their spare time. But when a popular actor or actress appears in a drama, the fans go wild. Men also watch dramas, but the majority are women. Occasionally, a really interesting drama will catch on and the whole country will watch it, including people who don't normally watch dramas. Sometimes it becomes a film.

Last but not least, let me say this
You have a great eye for choosing between Kanna Hashimoto and Minami Hamanabe! They are really beautiful girls.

A cultural festival is an event in which each class sets up a stall and invites the general public outside the school. The stalls include food such as frankfurters and yakisoba. There is also a roller coaster. Basically, each class decides what they are going to do, buys the necessary materials and decorates a large space by moving the desks in the classroom. If we are making a roller coaster, we buy wood, process it and make it go round the classroom. In high schools where only boys are enrolled, there are also maid cafes (maids dressed as women as there are only boys). It will also reflect the unique characteristics of the school. A school with a strong brass band may darken the gymnasium and hold a concert with spotlights. Some schools will also have a comedy act by students who have voluntarily joined in. The festival is organised by the students. Firstly, the student council (a self-governing body of elected representatives of the school) decides on the budget and the management of people on the day, and then each class organises its own stall. On the day of the event, neighbours, parents, graduates and friends come to the school.

If food is being handled, it will be inspected in accordance with the Food Hygiene Law. Only classes with permission will be allowed to sell food.

All proceeds go to the school.

The festival varies greatly from school to school. If the school does not put much effort into the festival, it can be like a kindergarten playground!

Although it is called "Bunka Matsuri", we are not sure about the "cultural" element of the festival. (This is a common meme among high school students)

The highlight of the festival is the performance of each club!

One anime that has a cultural festival and shows the life of a high school student is "五等分の花嫁". It was a hit in Japan a while ago!

The good thing about this system is that when you focus on your academic ability, it is appropriate because you can take detailed exams and change schools. But if you think about it in a non-academic way, it's not so good.

It began small here but we ignored these people because they were small and thought they would go away. They do not want peace, they look for things to be upset about (different race, different religion, different beliefs) so they can use to gain power by making others feel sorry for them. It is now happening in government.

Does somebody you know is a Kpop otaku, or what they call in the west, Kpop stans? They used to brand TWICE as being targeted to teenage girls, but have that perception changed? Do japanese people prefer listening to original korean version or japanese version of Kpop songs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yoHZLdRoF8

What if I tell you that you don't have to wash all of your clothes after you wore them for ONE day? It'll save a tone of work, time, stress (maybe even relationships), money and natural resources.

That's not what I meant.

Do you personally like when everyone around you is using tatemae? Don't you feel that it hard to really become close to someone because of that?

I can only speak for myself, but I personally dislike it.
When I want to get to know someone and they never do or say negative things, I feel estranged, like that person doesn't trust me and keeps at a distance.
Do you feel the same way too, or not?

In fact,I was actually the president of the student council. I am the same as Shirogane Miyuki in かぐや様は告らせたい(Kaguya-sama: Love Is War)So I can tell you quite a lot about this.
How much decision-making power the student council has depends on the school and the student council at the time. For example, in a strict school, the student council has no decision-making power at all. Also, the membership of the student council changes on a yearly basis and it depends on the members of the council at that time. However, in general, the student council can only change things that are initiated by the student council. From time to time, the Student Council creates new school events. In this case, the student council has a lot of decision-making power because it is the main organiser of the event. Therefore, it is basically difficult to change the school rules.

However, when I was the president of the student council, I succeeded in changing the school rules by discussing with the teachers the idea that the students should change the rule about socks on the girls' uniform and submitting a written opinion. This is a rather unusual case.

Another thing I have done in the student council is the cultural festival. Since the spread of the new coronavirus, many schools have cancelled their cultural festivals for infection control reasons. However, it is sad for the students to cancel the festival. So I decided to hold the festival online. Instead of setting up a stall, inviting a lot of people and serving food as we had done in previous years, we did a YouTube live presentation of the club activities. In this case, there is no gathering of people and we are well prepared for infection control. Our student council bought a drone and filmed the YouTube Live from the sky to make it more exciting. It turned out to be of TV show quality.

Also, the work of the student council varies from school to school, but at my school, the student council and the representatives of each club met and decided on the budget to be allocated to that club.

The actual student council is not like the one in the anime. There is a lot of work behind the scenes.

Here's my take on a day in the life of a realistic, real-life high school student.

6:00am
If you are a member of an athletic club, you will wake up early because you will have practice before classes start. This depends on the distance between school and home.

7:00 - 7:30
Those who don't have morning practice get up, get ready for the morning and eat breakfast (I get the impression that more and more people don't eat breakfast these days. They get up later)

7:30 - 8:00am
We leave the house and go to school. The train is usually followed by a bicycle. Public schools may have a school bus.

8:30
In most schools, if you are not in your classroom at this time, you are considered late. This time is used to check students' attendance and to inform them of the day's events.

8:40
The first class begins. Classes are usually 50 minutes long.

9:30
Recess is taken. Recess is 10 minutes long. If PE is next, we change into our gym clothes. If the next lesson is in a different classroom, we will move.

9:40
The second lesson is held in the same time slot as the first lesson and break, until the fourth lesson.

12:40
The fourth lesson is over and recess is over. This break usually lasts about 50 minutes, during which time the students eat. In some high schools there is a restaurant where students buy their meals, in others they bring a packed lunch, and in still others they buy a meal at a convenience store before arriving at school. In most cases, students eat in their own classrooms and are seated with their best friends. In most cases, students are not allowed to go into other classrooms. If you want to eat with friends from other classes, you can eat with them in the restaurant.

13:15
This is the fifth class. The time allocation is the same as the first.

15:10
All classes are finished. There are usually six lessons in a day. Here, as in the morning, HR takes place. This is where we report any news. This is followed by cleaning. This involves moving the desks in your class, sweeping the floor and then putting the desks back. Each class also has its own classroom, stairs, corridors, toilets and other areas of the school to clean. In addition, the class is divided into about six groups, which take it in turns to clean the school every week. This means that some groups do not have any cleaning this week. They can go home without cleaning.

15:40
Cleaning is over and we go home. Students who have club practice will go to practice. In some schools there will be further lessons after this time. In some schools there will be further lessons after this, often at a higher level to prepare students for university entrance exams. Some students also do some self-study in the library. When tests are coming up, more students study at school with their friends.

The time to go home also depends on each club activity. Some clubs go home early and some go home late. However, there is usually a set time when you can stay at school and you can't stay later than that, so you have to be home by that time. This is usually around 19:30. However, there are exceptions. I was a member of the student council and we worked until 22:00 at the worst times.

When we get home, we eat, have a bath, play games, study and so on.

Many families have two children. In my class, there are more people who have siblings. But I don't know about the parents of the younger generation. Maybe the percentage will decrease. In Japan, the cost of having a child, hospital bills, vaccines, etc. can be about a tenth of the cost in the US. This is due to differences in medical insurance. I think the reason why the birthrate is decreasing in Japan is not because of the environment, but because of the parents' awareness.

In many areas where there are few children, the local government will give you money just for having a child!

For those in their twenties it is about $30,544.50, for those in their thirties it is $39,271.50 and for those in their forties it is about $44,071.35.

The system of a wife receiving all her husband's salary, managing his food, utility and education expenses and giving him an allowance is sometimes seen in Japan. However, it is rare to find a family where this is strictly enforced. Mostly they are equal to each other. It is often the case that the wife has a slightly stronger opinion, because women in Japan think more about the family budget.

I don't know what the old people do. Some go to local social gatherings where they play shogi (Japanese chess) and some travel on their pensions. In fact, they seem to be bored!

I'm really sorry, but this is difficult to explain.

In the first place, the purpose of tatemae is not to hide one's true feelings, but to facilitate communication. So, there is nothing to be uncomfortable about using tatemae. And the people who use tatemae are much younger than you think. For example, you may use tatemae with a new classmate on the first day, but by the third day the tatemae is gone.

For example, you may tell your friend that you don't like person A. At this time, if he is a good friend of A, or if he is a righteous person who does not like to speak ill of him, it is the worst. But if you talk to him a little, you get a sense of his character and his relationships. You can sense him even if he doesn't speak directly to you. Until you feel this, you will use a tatemae. But once you have sensed this, and if you feel that your personalities are compatible, then you can talk without pretence. If they don't feel the same way, they will usually go and find another friend. In other words, I don't talk a lot with people who use pretence. The only time I talk to them is when I need to, such as when they contact me. When you use tatemae, you don't talk about deep things for the above reasons, so you can have a smooth conversation without any conflicts. I never feel lonely. Tatemae is not used as much in everyday life as you might think.

I feel that this is a bond between humans and monkeys. To be honest, it's amazing how they treat the monkeys like friends and actually get along with them more than the show. Unlike the circus, the Japanese monkey art starts from creating a bond, not training.

In the first place, such a thing does not happen because there is no such thing as a pretentious girl in anime. In reality, A is much more difficult to understand.

Among girls, that girl is A. And girls often talk about how they don't like A girls. The same is true among boys. But if you talk to A without actually knowing anything about her, you won't realise that she is A.

There are probably A's in every country. But they do not have a name attached to their nature. In the case of Japan, there is a name for it, and because of the over-representation of A through anime and other media, the relationship between Japan and A is thought to be very deep.

The people with whom you use tatemae are the ones with whom you usually have little or no contact. For example, if you are talking to someone you have just met for the first time in a business transaction, you would choose polite words. The other person will do the same. You don't worry about he don't like you or not. Because this is first time to met him and you and him are both using polite language, there's no way he can decide whether he dislike you or not. In this way, you don't have to worry about the person who uses "tatemae".

Really? I'm very happy! At first I thought people would say horrible things about me because my English is not very good and this is my first time using 4ch. But in fact everyone is very kind and I think you are all very kind!

I studied when I was taking an exam called Eiken. It is said that even native speakers cannot pass the highest level of this test. If you'd like to give it a go, here's the URL for the questions. The site is in Japanese, but I have translated the questions into English for you to see.

Seriously, passing the EIKEN does not mean you can speak English. A native English teacher at my school told me that even if you pass the EIKEN, you won't be able to speak English at the level of a native kindergarten student. The EIKEN focuses on grammar and vocabulary and is not practical. I don't speak any English either.

The test consists of reading and listening questions, and you have to score 70% to pass it. You need to get 70% of the marks to pass it, and even if you pass it, you still won't get the EIKEN qualification. If you pass the test, you will then have an interview. This is a very political test, so English language skills alone are not enough to pass. If you pass this interview, you will finally be qualified for the EIKEN.

PS Thanks for the milk!

If you tie it with a rope, it shows domination. But if you do it with your hands, it does not show dominance, nor does it show tenderness. It is really neither. It is difficult, but perhaps this is due to Japanese culture. In Japan, it was natural for the man to take the initiative and for the woman to be passive. It's a vestige of that.

There is no concept of domination because it was common knowledge that the relationship should be that way and that nothing else existed

people tend to forget that junior highschool is not really a thing in Japan nor in most asian countries. they're called middle school and you do attend a different school for it. while it may seems like the difference only lies in name, it's way more different than what you might think. middle school is not high school.
nonetheless, the point is there's no way that OP is 12 and he has stated that he's 18, which means that he's not underage based on 4chan rule. the spamming is unfortunate since even if the reason behind it is the lack of knowledge, some anon have teached him that he can reply to multiple posts at once. mods also have made their decision, you should stop posting in a thread that you don't like, it'll die anytime soon anyway.

ご serves to polish the words that follow. 主 refers to the main person, such as one's employer. 人means person, but when added to something, it can refer to○○person. And there is a similar role in English. For example, if you add "ian" to "magic", you get "magician".様 is used to call someone respectfully.

Therefore, the word A is not gender specific and can be used for women.

By the way, you can also change the word お to 御. If you write あ in kanji, it becomes 御, and the meaning is exactly the same. However, this will make it sound a little more formal.

In the word 女主人, お and 様 are missing, and 女 is added in their place. お means respect for the next word, And B gives a sense of respect to the word placed before it.so the word 女主人 loses its respectful meaning and becomes just a noun. In the case of ご主人様, it is respectful and can be used in front of the master, but in the case of 女主人, it is not respectful and it is impolite to use it in front of the master.

Originally, in Japan, only men worked in society, while women stayed at home and did the housework. So, even without specifying the gender, the letter ご主人様 referred to men. In modern times, as society has changed and women have started to work, ご主人様 can now be used for women as there is no need to specify the gender. However, because of this history, when Japanese people hear the letter ご主人様, they think of men. So I think the word 女主人 was born to indicate a female master

about slang in Japanese.

What means "NANI" in Japanese. So, some people say what the fuck is NANI the fuck. However, this is actually wrong. The Japanese word NANI is used to refer to a specific physical object or event. For example, "What's in the box? or "What is your dream? What the fuck is wrong in Japanese because it doesn't refer to anything in particular. However, there is a word that can be mixed with English and still have the correct meaning. On its own, BAKA means stupid, but when you add an adjective to it, BAKA emphasises the adjective. For example, BAKA crazy means "fucking crazy", and BAKA + adjective is a slang word often used by Japanese high school student.

If you want to know other Japanese slang, I'll tell more.

Japan's Constitution states that citizens have the right to a healthy and culturally appropriate minimum standard of living. In accordance with this constitution, if you lose your job in Japan, the state will give you money to live a healthy and cultured minimum life. In this way, Japan is a better place to live than other countries, even for vulnerable people like homeless people. The good thing about Japan is that the standard of almost everything you experience on a daily basis has reached a certain level, such as the fact that trains always arrive on time.

The not so good part of Japan is the digital side. There are world class IT companies in Japan, but in Japan we still use fax machines and write important documents on paper. This is a problem in Japan now. This should be solved as soon as possible. Another problem is that we are an island country and there are not many foreigners in Japan, so we don't have opportunities to experience foreign cultures. If you grow up not knowing the differences between cultures, you will have a lot of trouble in a society that is becoming even more globalised

In Japan we have a custom of making fun of people's appearance. When I make fun of my friend's appearance, my friend doesn't really think it's offensive. When my friend make fun of my appearance, I don't really think it's offensive either too. In fact, I'm happy that it makes the situation more pleasant. This is possible because my friends and I are very close. However, there is a limit to how much you can make fun of someone's appearance. You should not say anything that could hurt the other person. This boundary is different for everyone. Therefore, it is difficult to maintain an appropriate relationship with each person you talk to. However, in Japan, there is a concept called "Tatemae". This allows us to determine the appropriate relationship. I think this is why it is possible in Japan to do things that are taboo in other countries. It is true that in children, the relationship is not always clear and sometimes it is just a bad word. But in the process, they learn to communicate in the Japanese way. There is nothing wrong with making fun of someone's appearance, as long as it doesn't make them feel uncomfortable and brightens the moment.

I hear in Japan it is quite common when buying a property to demolish the existing structure and build a new one...and that these new homes often have a 30 year lifespan. The reason I've heard for this are earthquakes, so people just....don't build homes expecting them to last. Is this true? Do you think it would be better to just built them to last several generations in the first place? Surely there's a way to earthquake-proof a house.

Also what's the average home in Japan like? Do you have a backyard, patio, frontyard? 2 stories? Everyone has their own rooms? I've seen some jp streamers show their homes and the kitchens are so tiny, makes me wonder what the average home's size is.

This is sensitive stuff, so you don't have to answer. How do you learn in school that the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan?
※I can understand both the American and Japanese ideas at the time. I'm just curious.

I was surprised to find out that everyone knows more about the maniacs than I expected. Really. I would love to go to Tokyo with all of you and play and talk all day long!

In Japan, we sometimes hear about inequality and discrimination in the United States. In Japan, however, it is almost impossible to imagine that drugs or even violence occur.

Yeah, sure. That's why Shinjuku is the second-largest human and drug trafficking center on the planet.

In America, it's going to differ wildly depending on what state you live in, but at least where I'm from, it was brought up in world history lessons once WWII is discussed. We learn about all the different choices that President Truman had to choose from, theorized the different outcomes, and discussed the political and cultural climate in Japan that led to his final decision.

>Do you have any plans to visit Japan in the near future?
I'd love to, but it's currently closed off and it is very expensive to go to Japan, but certainly one day.
>What do you dislike about Japan?
Japan's work culture seems very oppressive, Ive heard horror stories about companies that make you stay at the office until late at night. It sounds awful. Other than that not much except (like a lot of others have touched on) the general feeling of prioritizing social harmony instead of personal freedom. Which isn't always a bad thing.
>Do you think Japanese schools are too strict?
By American standards they would be seen as very strict. I don't know enough to say for sure.
>I have a question for people who like Japanese idols and so on. How do you find out about Japanese idols and how do you get information about them, when most of them are only active in Japan?
Personally I'm not too into idols but most people find out about otaku culture type of things through websites like this. Also things like twitter and such.
>What do older and younger people think about Japan respectively?
This is hard to say for sure since there are so many different demographics here it's hard to get a general consensus. But from my own experience (very) old people in there 70's or 80's tend to have a negative view of Japan because of their involvement in the war. People in their middle age tend to have a pretty neutral stance and young people seem to really like Japan.
>How do you learn in school that the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan?
In school it is kind of seen as a necessary evil. It's acknowledged that huge amounts of people died and debated how necessary it was but a lot of people hold a sentiment that if it wasn't done there would have been a lengthy and ultimately more bloody invasion.

Thanks for doing this thread OP it was very informative.

>I have a question for people who like Japanese idols and so on. How do you find out about Japanese idols and how do you get information about them, when most of them are only active in Japan?
We know them from songs and fansites/ fan translation. We're otakus that's obsessed with japanese culture, and noticed of how popular idol is so we follow them. Some like it from the songs, but I can bet that many more loved the personas of idol members themselves. I mean, most of us cant speak/understand japanese much, so those songs we like are just noise that we like from the melody/rhytmn. Some of us that can speak japanese then translate them into various underground sites and subtitles for videos hence why it's able to grow despite them being targeted to japanese only. Japanese idols felt very different than typical US celebrity. The live their character, and had homely and cute personas. I'm also attracted to how far the system was created for them to not break character. If you got scandal, lose popularity, etc, the idols graduated. All those things helped me suspend my disbelief.

Because this part of the website is for otakus and maniacs. /jp/ is specially made to contain such people from polluting other boards back then. Hence why the questions asked to you were mostly about touhou, weird shit they saw in animes, internet memes, and other subculture stuff.

Tiktok is very good if you want to look at JC/JK. Way better than Instagram. Took me a while but I was finally convinced into using it.

Oof I'm from eastern europe so with old people it's generally negative. They usually group you all into the Chinese category. I went to a vocational engineering school and our teacher would sometimes do the squinty eyes hand motion to mimic an asian person's eyes when talking about Japanese robots.

Younger people are more positive unless they're from the close-minded lower class

In my high school, we were told what America did, and then we had to read American and Japanese sources to form opinions on the bombing.

i wonder if it's because of the numerous "blog" question that he got. it kinda turned into a blog but it's not necessarily his fault, some anon just can't help themselves. and having two threads in a row might also be a bit too much. should've wait for some days of weeks.

>Do you have any plans to visit Japan in the near future?
The moment Japan opens up without any bullshit quarantine, I'm going to Osaka and Kyoto with my friends. Already been to Tokyo multiple times for idolshit concerts and akiba hopping, so I want to do the more historical culture/food appreciation rather than just otaku culture

>What do you dislike about Japan?
Based on what I keep hearing from my friends/family that lived there, work culture as a gaijin was hell and that was with them being conversational in Japanese

>Do you think Japanese schools are too strict?
Saturday schools + afterschool studying sounds like hell, nevermind the mandatory clubs

>I have a question for people who like Japanese idols and so on. How do you find out about Japanese idols and how do you get information about them, when most of them are only active in Japan?
I'm into Love Live and idolmaster. Based on my experience and my friends, you find out about idolshit through friend recomendations. You watch Love Live, slowly find out they also have a 3D element, find them cute, then soon enough you're in twitter looking at what the seiyuu are doing. It's a pretty good way to get into learning Japanese actually, since english subs are rare for non-mainstream stuff. The community for liking seiyuu is also pretty chill

>What do older and younger people think about Japan respectively?
I live in SEA, so anime is very prevalent amongst the younger people, though not as much as KPOP nowadays. The older generation that's never been to japan is indifferent, the younger generation almost glorifies and idealizes Japan too much

is it true japanese people are born with adhd compared to every other country or do jp naturally act retarded?
how racist are japanese people considering they call anyone other then themselves "foreigners"?
also your stance that theirs no bullying in "high tier" schools just means you're blind to it.

This seems like a pretty common misconception among Nips. I think it's because even the Japanese who teach English don't know what a phrasal verb is.
