Have you played Disgaea (1)? I'm thinking of starting up the PSP version today, or maybe I'll play Persona PSP instead. Never really played SRPG's before though; the only one I've ever completed was Devil Survivor which was excellent.

How so? It's more balanced than SF2 and SF3 and has some of the best online play in any fighting game (losing to HDR, BlazBlue and maybe Marvel). I'm not the biggest fan of the heavy reliance on link combos, but with some skill it's not really a problem.

@OP: Do you still play DS? I took a little break after beating the game three times in a row. I wish they had included a bonus world for SL200 players.
The biggest problem with english market DS version is that not many fags are still active with SL130+ .... thus it becomes pale after some time to repeat beating the stages on my own

I like Blazblue a hell of a lot better than SF4.
The shortcut functions make it fun to play even with beginners.
Favorite DS game would be Rune Factory. I can't go back to Harvest Moon anymore.
As much as I liked Rune Factory Frontier, I have to admit that the Wiimote implementation wasn't really spectacular at all. The best it did was force Marvelous to simplify scheme. I didn't accidentally eat things I wanted to put into my bag as often. The novelty of pretend farming with waggle motions wore off pretty quickly. Still waiting for farm tool wiimote addons, though.
I really liked the way No More Heroes and Trauma Center handled the wiimote, though.

I like BlazBlue a lot, but it has too many balance issues. It's a very good game though, no doubt. I can't wait for the revision with the new characters and rebalancing.

I really hated the Wiimote implementation in Trauma Center. Completely ruined the game for me. I'll stick with the DS versions.

Yeah, I got DS right when it came out and played it 12+ hours a day basically. There were a few people around my SL, but for the most part the world was pretty empty. When I get my PS3 repaired I'm probably going to have to start over anyway...

360: First/Third Person Shooters (I can't pin it down to any one game) I need a J360 for some real variety.
PS3: Probably the Uncharted series, love the production values.
Wii: Gave it away because it was useless... but I'll say Galaxy because it wasn't as pathetic as the rest of the garbage I owned.
DS: Never owned one.
PSP: Lumines series. I also own both Live! and Supernova so that might make it my overall favorite.

I guess you could consider SF4's console version to be "definitive". But it's more a case of Capcom's silly decision to add characters to the console version that weren't in the arcade, so that the arcade players would be at a disadvantage, so it was unavoidable.

In general, the arcade versions are pretty much always considered "the definitive version", and a port of a 3 year old game could in no way be considered "game of the year".

Also, Super SF2T was on the Dreamcast. I believe the DC version was the standard for the Evo tournament as well, but I'm not sure. I know Evo uses Marvel 2 DC at least.

OoE has the best art style, nice gameplay (fidelis medusa is awesome), better fighting system than the others, good story, good characters, you can play as Albus, quests, good level design and good positions for save statues

DoS I may have "completed" with 79%, but I'm sure that wasn't everything. Closed doors are annoying, one giant level worse than many smaller ones and the save statues are too far away from each other. Bosses are a joke (that fire guy is totally defenseless against a gun), fighting is bad compared to OoE, bishounen hero is obnoxious

Well, try Megaten Games. .hack series, Ar Tonelico/atelier Iris(not 3)/Mana Khemia, SHadow Hearts, Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden games, Maaaaybe Xenosaga, Wild Arms games, Grandia, Tales games or...Final Fantsay (Ps2 ones are just...).

While not great or anything, there is Arc the Lad, Radiata Stories, Star Ocean 3 which I liked in the end and Dragon Quest.

That should keep ypu busy for Jrpgs.

Godhand, Metal Gear Solid 3 (and 2 if you're a fag like me and like it), Devil May Cry 1 and 3, Shinobi, Okami, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, both Dark Cloud games, both Viewtiful Joe games if you don't have a gamecube, and I liked the PC version of Grandia 2 and from what I gather the PS2 version is better and probably cheap if you can find it. My friend tells me that Persona 4 is amazing and I plan to pick that up soon, and supposedly the Ace Combat games are excellent.

Basically, PS2 is the best console ever.

And before you think about it, the original Zone of the Enders sucks and is basically a tech demo compared to ZoE2's excellence. Don't bother with it.

Persona 3 FES is excellent. Though you probably should have played it first since you will surely miss the numerous gameplay improvements in P4.

The overall story of P3FES is better than 4, but I give P4 the advantage in every other category. Still, we are talking about two of the best games in the genre, so yes, play P3FES.

There's far fewer games out this gen than there were last gen. There are some gems sure, but game development on consoles is ridiculously costly and developers nowadays just want cheap easy money and most games go to portables.

All in all, it feels like the industry is going stale with constant sequels and rehashing but then again there is still a bunch of stuff I look forward to next year.

We get more games then we have time to play for almost every genre and there is a gem or two for each.

It's hard as hell to draw one or two of the seals while holding the mouse button down. one of them is very unforgiving.

I always either drew it too fast so it didn't register properly(what?), too slow, or my hand barely moved and it messed up because the screen is so small.

Though I did get past the unforgiving seal, I couldn't take the seals anymore.

I hate SF4 (online) but I still play it a lot. Just because I enjoy doing complex links. However the frequently 5+ frame lag on games is really frustrating, along with the idiotic footsies game since 90% of the game is in neutral/spam mode. I wish MBAA had online play. Also the matchmaking system is a million times worse than any other online system I've ever seen.

Only current gen stuff I have played is Valkyria Chronicles and BlazBlue. Saving up for a PS3 is one of the stupider things I have done since games are so fucking expensive, and I am relatively poor.

I'll just stick with Shoot the Bullet and Dwarf Fortress.

Depends on whether or not you've updated your Wii recently.

If your Wii version is 4.2, then it might be a bit tricky. If not, google "bannerbomb" and have a SD card ready.
