Like, I get the meme itself is pretty funny, but having an attraction towards it is admittedly bizarre. There's just something about the personality imbued from the non-canonical interpretation which is extremely attractive.
I'm not sure what to tell you, you are free to say I have poor tastes but they are still tastes that the OP is asking for. Do I need to commission art of the character based on popular /jp/ franchisees for it to be juistified? If so seems like a restrictive definition of waifu.

In this thread specifically, I don't think you need to let it "rest", because as you can see in the previous thread, it takes time to people start a proper conversation about waifuism, beliefs etc. Just my opinion, but I think it's better to keep the topic going with more or less the same anons instead of starting all over again next month, when people probably won't remember a lot of interesting takes on the topic.
Hopefully people won't change waifus every month, so the questions part also won't be affected if you keep the thread going.

I had a mental breakdown because I realized how much time I wasted playing video games and of how pathetic and weak I was, so I held the closest human thing near me at the time which was a sketch I did of Ran. Ever since then I draw Ran whenever I feel sad or lonely because the idea of someone like Ran comforting me and telling me everything is going to be ok makes me happy.

Around half a year now, a bit shorter than most of the people here but my love for her grows the more I draw her.

She is my laifu. Zero exs as I used to make fun of people with waifus until ran showed up.

I think it's great and it can help a lot with destressing, just don't shove it in other people's faces. As far as I'm concerned Ran being in my life has helped me more than any parent, friends, and or adults ever had.

I don't like the way she is portrayed most of the time. She's too slutty. I see her more as a gentle housewife who would only do it when the mood is right.

I chose her on 1/31 over other social links I could have maxed (despite having already maxed Chihiro's) because I wasn't sure what would happen next and wanted to spend time with her before anything else. I'm actually curious how Japanese waifu culture looks like. Considering how much seriousness can vary from one western community to another community, so I imagine it might also be the case there. I'm pretty certain I've seen some photos of some really nice waifu shrines(maybe it was even part of collage?) who had wife and family and it didn't seem to be looked down on.

Oshi spread from idol culture to 2D media.
I think it was first used for 2D idol media like im@s and Love Live! but it has since spread to all 2D media and is by far the most common term.
More serious people still tend to use yome but usually in addition to oshi.
Oshi is kind of like an even worse version of the normalfag usage of "waifu." Most people have plenty of them and it doesn't even require actual love.
There are variants like saioshi to specify your favorite oshi but even that feels disrespectful and doesn't exactly imply monogamy.

I feel like my waifu falling in love with him is a matter of circumstance because they only meet and interact during the series and have no prior history with one another, so different circumstances such as me existing in her story and meeting her at a similar point in time could change things. My presence in her story would necessarily mean that it is a different timeline from canon anyway because I do not exist in her world, so I would have to be transported or reincarnated there to be able to meet her. If that happened, I could end up meeting and befriending her at an ideal time before she met him at the beginning of the story, which could end up making me her main love interest.
Self inserting as him is possible but not ideal because he dies long before she does. I'd rather live a long life with her and I feel that would make her happier.
I stopped feeling jealousy long ago because that's pointless. It's fiction and no more real than my own imagination.

An old example is going to the shrine features in lucky star and hanging up placards of the character they liked. I watched kaiji and he became one of my favorite characters, but didn't have any feelings (i am straight, he ended up being the one exception). Had a dream about 2 weeks after completion where we were married and once i woke up i was extremely attracted to him. He really did choose me.

Previous waifu (Haruhi Suzumiya, since s1 aired) fell out of top position after above happened. Still adore her though. I know it is frowned upon, but i have irl girlfriends as well. I am polyamorous and they know that i view irl and waifuism relationships/persons as equal, and I dedicate time to appreciating Kaiji every day.

Fictional love is almost better than real love. Everything about them is perfect due to not needing to be grounded in reality. It's like the longing stage of relationships, witch I find more comfortable and fulfilling. Waifuism is this specific form of love for a character being a large part of your life / dedicating yourself to them in a different way than typical love.

I like to think of myself as a self insert or y/n in terms of fantasizing about him. Names or thinking of him in my reality just doesn't feel the same.

Yes. I hate it when he is shipped with Akagi. Akagi would be a bad influence, Kaiji still loves and cares about his fellow humans even if he puts on nihilistic facade.

Fukumoto (mangaka) has said that he doesn't like Kaiji as a person. I feel like in early kaiji (parts 1 and 2) he tried to make him more badass than he really is and just occasionally hinted at his humanitarian side. In part 6 he went a bit too much on the moe. I like to think of it as him recovering from his trauma and feeling like he can finally trust others again to make it a bit less cringe. Modern kaiji really just is a standard anime girl at this point.

Yes and no, fan works have a tendency towards torture porn and ugly bastards. The occasional nice and consensual ones are great though, it just takes a lot of seeing him suffer to get to it, so I mostly just re-view the same couple ones instead of looking for new r18 works.
