I was reading through this and I feel inclined to agree with this person's analysis and wanted to discuss it here. I feel like this could be accurate, but it could also simply be a quirk of Zun's writing to make his characters eccentric and weird.
I feel like part of this could also explain why so many autistics are draw to Touhou.

I feel like I should give a little bit more info for people who don't want to read the thread.

The thread essentially explains and focuses on behaviors of Reimu's that are similar to various autistic traits.

I feel like this sort of thing is prevalent throughout most of Zun's writing, though.

Here’s my take on it:
The author is 100% on the spectrum (they claim there’s multiple people living in their head for fuck’s sake)and is trying to apply their disorder to a character they like. Reimu acts eccentric because she’s a fictional character who exists in a universe where characters fight each other for no reason. “There is no common sense in Gensokyo.” Even in the manga, she’s portrayed as young girl with the mind of a grumpy old woman. Also this individual runs a page where they claim every 2hu is an alphabet person and… whaddya know, they’re a trannie. If her being autistic is your headcanon OP then whatever floats your boat but more than likely you’re just using a mentally ill person’s ramblings as bait. I feel like a lot of the fun of Touhou is reading into things and thinking about things beyond just the established canon (hence why the doujins are so big). Half the threads on /jp/ are more or less talking about how characters would act in situations unlikely or impossible in canon.

Honestly, I know nothing about this person beyond the thread I linked as I was linked there directly. I only linked it because I felt it expressed more in-depth what I meant. Also I’m not just using this for bait, I genuinely think this is an interesting thing to think about.

I personally don’t think that Reimu is autistic, but I do feel like Zun writes a lot of his characters in a way that might be relatable to autistics, especially with the whole “There is no common sense in Gensokyo”. I’ve just noticed that there are a fair amount of autistics in the Touhou community and wanted to discuss if this might be the reason why, as well as talk about other examples of this.

Honestly, yeah. I probably should’ve just explained what I meant rather than linking that, that thread was just more or less what got me thinking about this.

People on the internet pretty much universally hate the idea of anything they like being associated with autism at all. /jp/ was pretty much the only place where this thread wouldn’t be downvoted, deleted, or immediately buried and at the very least I could see some people say “you retard get out of /jp/“ this already is more than I could’ve hoped for. Also, this is the only Touhou-centric forum with a high concentration of autists I could think of. Even if this board is mainly for waifu posting, I figured there’d be 1-2 people willing to discuss this.

I disagree with this one as I’ve noticed a higher concentration of autistic people who like Touhou than I have with other games. You’re right. Autists are typically into anime and manga, though, so them being into Touhou could simply be an extension of that. Maybe the lack of explicit sexuality or extremely complex characters attracts them especially? Or maybe I’m just seeing an increase where there is none.

Some of the things said in the thread are either stretching or just downright stupid (such as the idea of Reimu’s constant stretching being an example of “repetitive motion”, rather than simply a pose the artists like drawing her in.).

I'd say that Touhou is just a great escapism outlet. It wasn't created with autism in mind, and you don't need to be on the spectrum to indulge in a fantasy wonderland where anything but common sense goes.
