Most likely an audience latency issue with the DAC, in that the latency is too low. One of the major caveats of most USB DACs.

Make sure that exclusive mode is enabled for the DAC output. Beyond that, latency may need to the changed, or sound output method altered (if possible).

What are some charts that has a lot of AB BC AB and AB BC CD chords? I know of Lachryma 13's near the end but I'm around 16-18 right now and this feels too slow and short. There's Sakura Mirage 17 but it's too fast. Have tried to do it with my left on AB, and right on BC, but feels too cramped and early/late at times so I default sometimes to having my right hand on CD instead and hope for the best.

Honestly explore the harder 16s.

Problem a lot of people have with sdvx progression is that a lot of stuff ends up becoming quite common in higher difficulties but is only introduced in a select amount of stuff at a lower difficulty where it ends up being relegated to one of the "harder" songs of that difficulty that people tend to avoid.

Even if not every chart ends up having that pattern, you'll be sure to find stuff too that has relevant hand control which should help you on your way to having that sort of pattern 'click'.

Been doing that since I got stuck at 15s before and the google sheet for difficult tracks for each level. Wasn't able to find something like the aforementioned track where I can practice it for most parts of the track. I vaguely remember there's one where it has that near the start but can't remember and find it now. Also, forgot to mention that I'm also having issues with drills like in Oniyuri 16. it's easier to setup compared to infinitas (literally just download spice, throw it in the folder and patch bm2dx.dll with https://mon.im/bemanipatcher/)), has a fuckton more charts even without omnimix, runs better than infinitas, and most importantly you don't have to grind to unlock charts.
As explained by the other anon, the only real downside is that you can't stream your plays or share scores on social media, but if you are a beginner I would advice against scoreposting entirely regardless of what you are playing on. And even then, tons of bemani-related discord servers have dedicated channels for both streaming and scoreposting with data, so if you are craving for attention you can get it there.

I used to play barefoot, but I found the grip varied too much depending on temp/humidity and I was starting to use truly worrying amounts of talcum powder. Socks, I find, are more consistent, I have a pile of clean ones when a pair starts getting humid.

I had to look up the conversion chart, hard to tell what difficulty I play because I've never looked at official releases or anything, I've only downloaded random song packs and played on Stepmania and stuff like that. I'm used to getting obliterated/quitting a "difficulty 9" because it was accidentally a keyboard chart.

Yeah I'm "freestyling" ddr 12s I guess. DDR and ITG difficulties are completely different. Back when I was playing at arcades bars were cheating so I figured I'd spend a while getting my foot speed back up before building a bar and optimizing movement and trying stamina packs or something. Fwiw I've been using New Balance Fresh Foam 680s for dance games and they've been good to me. Kinda losing the subtle grip that I like but when I wipe them down with a Windex wipe it's good for a session. NBs are also great if you have weird sized feet like I do. Short and wide and no one makes a 4e shoe that fits me aside from NB

DJmax is both bad and abandoned. Ranked mode is all bots, there is a hard timing mode but you're not allowed to use it, and every player match is either a PFC or the person who got the single great loses.

I/O's and things aside, current cabs are just windows PC's with off the shelf hardware and a striped out release. I imagine that's a lot easier than dealing with 30,000 outdated dependencies that would come with a specific linux build. yeah those are packs meant to be played on pad and not keyboard
the patterns will be extremely limited because of this and any musical relevance they have wont carry over to being played on keyboard
pad stream files can still be fun, but for the sake of improvement youre better off developing fundamentals across all skillsets first
aside from the other packs i recommended, if you like sdvx songs you could download the sound voltex infinite gravity pack and play the lower difficulties in that, its a keyboard pack as well

Fair enough, its just not any less competent as a rhythm game than Deemo (much moreso in fact with things like fade and random mods). It still pales in comparison to IIDX or Etterna, but if you actually cared about that youd be playing those already. Pretty much the one thing DJMax has going for it is how its a good entry point for casuals because of the flashiness and accessibilty without being completely incompetent as a vsrg.

Just be careful with your game selection. After I hit my wall, I went back to osu. I got to top 2K, but ruined my right wrist in the process, and now I can't play any rhythm game at all. I had to sell my FPS because I kept trying to come back every 2-3 months, only to feel physical pain after about 15 minutes, and then a lot of existential pain, even if I limited myself to normals.
