What do you do when you feel like you've hit your limits in Touhou?

For the past couple weeks I feel like I haven't been getting any better. I can just barely beat each of the games on Normal, and I've never beaten an extra stage. What must I do to ascend to the next plane of existence?

Play even more and play on harder difficulties or more difficult opponents.

I used to be a semi-professional FPS gamer, competed in some pro leagues but dropped out after a year. Won some first place prizes. The key is to keep playing, even when you're up against the wall. Then one day, you wake up, and suddenly you're a lot better and you over come certain obstacles that had been plaguing you before.

I'm stuck at scene 9-6 in STB. I've beaten all the scenes before it and EX-4. I've tried scene 9-6 2500 times and still can't beat it.
