Yeah it's great, it has all the elements that made Link to the Past such a classic, just on lower spec hardware with a lower production budget.

Unfortunately I think both of those aspects make it fall flat in relation to other 2D Zeldas (besides Oracles to an extent), which all expand upon ALTTP in some way while LA only tries to do what it did on a smaller scale. Playing ALTTP and LA back to back makes you really notice this.
It still has some great dungeon design though, and it's absolutely brimming with its own identity and charm. Honestly some of the better Zelda worldbuilding, especially for its time.
