is there any difference in quality between oppads? I want one, but I'd rather not go through hell again waiting for a convention exclusive to pop up. I'm guessing my only option would be to buy from chinese sellers, but the ordeal with genuine vs bootleg daki covers has left me hesitant to act.

Seems like it. I've went ahead and done my own research on this subject. There definitely is a range of quality between oppai mousepads. Not too sure about the cushioning gel itself, but at least in terms of the art, material, and assembly quality, not all oppai mousepads are created equal. I was initially concerned about getting one of these, but it turns out there are still very many of them in circulation in second hand markets (most notably Yahoo auctions and Mandarake), and I'm sure new releases are made all the time for comiket and whatnot. I've found some very creative designs in my search. There is almost certainly an oppai mousepad out there for everyone.
