If you mean in livestreams as such it's because it's trendy.
If you mean why they release professional "voice works" in DLsite and similar sites it's because it proved to be a profitable venue for doujin seiyuu so soon enough people who were willingly to put the money to hire A list seiyuu stepped in. And those always end up being too sellers. Obviously there is the sales bonus of the parasocial relationship with the dedicated simps rushing to buy the one with their favorite idol seiyuu. That's a nice sales incentive.

But they are a real mixed bag because most A list seiyuu are not familiar with how to get the most of the hardware and that's crucial for good quality ASMR.
I don't think I have liked any of the releases of the circle run by Aoi's friend with huge tits. Weird casting choices, very long period of no voice which is pretty backwards when you hire big name seiyuu to participate. Necogurashi isn't that good either.

A shame really, since I reckon his input is needed for Makima definitely.

But, have there been other instances where a mangaka has specifically requested a VA to voice a particular character? I know Rumiko Takahashi always wants Hayashibara and Yamadera in her anime, so I wonder if there are other examples.
