I spoke with a representative from the university that published it and got told that they wouldn't approve a reproduction copy and didn't know anything about Google hosting a copy of the book, ending with "We are sorry that we can not be a help". I found a copy of the first volume in pdf form, but the second volume continues to elude me. Japanese Language Patterns: A Structural Approach volume 1, however, is exactly as useful and informative as Jay Rubin hinted. I'd even go so far as to say that I'd be willing to pay for the collectors sets even if they're $500, because it's that well-written and well-structured.

No idea. I guess someone uploaded the volume 1 file somewhere online and it got spread around but no one did the same for volume 2. Google Play claims to have it for free but the file they uploaded isn't the 1200 page file the page with both books that it claims. I have had some experience with Anki but it was unrelated to Japanese.
One thing that I noticed while using kanji.koohii's SRS is that the review session do not seem to be capped. Now if I skip the review session one day, the day after the SRS is going to suggest a review of all the cards that were originally scheduled for that day along with the ones for the day before. This means that reviews can easily reach hundreds of cards just by skipping a couple of sessions.
I remember that using Anki the study session were actually capped, meaning that it would dynamically resize the scheduled sessions depending on the ones that were skipped.
Am I remembering this correctly? If so I might actually switch to Anki.

I almost got pickpocketed once. It was a guy in a monk robe trying to sell me a book. It was a really pretty book cover and he tried to sell me on the wisdom, in his other hand was a bunch of books with bland covers, I assume if I had said yes he would have tried to switch books and claim they're the same or something anyway that was only one part of the scam. He did a technique where he handed me the book right close to my chest, this forced my hands up and out of the way of my pockets, he then moved to my side and patted me on the back so I wouldn't feel his hands in my pocket. I got really lucky by here because I didn't notice till after what happened and the only thing in my pocket was a bunch or snotty tissues.
