Both extensions work, unless you're stuck in the 1990s.

90s are the best

So... when learning a language there are a lot of ways to go about it, and with the variety of internet, books and classes/seminars, it's really about finding which method works best for you and then a whole lot of perseverance. What kind of direction are you looking for?

Thanks for a GOOD reply.
I suppose the internet, seeing as it's the most accessible for me.

That's a pretty accurate image. Saved for the next time someone posts one of these.

One thing you can do, OP, is pirate some Japanese intro books and get started using them. Having had a few "false start" attempts at Japanese (aka trying to learn without enough time or dedication), I've gone through a handful of intro books. Personal recommendation is the Genki series.
Some useful links:

Good Grammar Explanations, going up to the end of what some college courses would cover in a two-year class cycle, but in reality is Elementary level Japanese (aka you could survive in Japan on it and maybe get a job at a Conbini):

Grammar Flash Videos. Goes up to a low Intermediate level:
http://www.gwu.edu/~eall/vjg/vjghomepage/vjghome.htm

A well-written, casual introduction to Kanji, if you don't know what you're in for yet. Note the url, it's a completely non-professional resource but actually pretty good and the humor keeps you interested:

Godly Kanji study-aid:

Less-godly, JLPT-oriented Kanji study-aid:

Mnemosyne (google it) is a free flash card program that gradually adapts itself to what you've learned. It's actually pretty decent for memorizing kanji.
