A few others seem to have their niche if you care about them: Fairies under the hot sun, Froggy hat, I'm the Strongest, Rabbit of Good Fortune.
Bunbunmaru newspaper is currently the only card that raises Yang defense and Usual offering box seems to be the best option for Yin Defense currently (not sure about the future). Both are decent cards so I would keep them as well.
I feel the rest is mostly stats sticks and placeholder for better 5 stars cards.

Is it just me, or is the sister event's main story in global right now far worse than the side interactions in the filler stages?
The whole "extremely asinine thing results in a draw and no one wins the round" is starting to get really annoying, and its only the third stage. Hell, Kanako should've straight up got the other side DQ'd round 3 for interrupting Joon, since she didn't take part like Yukari did.
Meanwhile the filler interactions are honestly pretty funny. No contest here IMO

Just look at her skills and compare them to a good tank like Yukari and you can instantly tell that she won't see any use. Yeah Byakuren is okay. It's not a crazy level tank like Yukari but she can still Full Auto a single ennemy in the tower (something Reimu cannot do for example).
I still think she could use a small buff : some element on her LW? She has +20% to effective element but so few elements. Have one skill become something a bit more flashy? She is a FES unit but her skills are so boring

Byakuren has great sustain for herself but she's not good at taking hard hits. Yukari completely outclasses her in both regards, and at some point in tower you will need lots of damage reduction and defense since enemies will start using boosted attacks and will one hit KO most characters, except Yukari who can even tank spellcards/LW.

Yes, urgently. The other replies are comparing her to Yukari, which I think is unfair considering how enormous Yukari's buff was. Let's look at a more comparable tank, Kanako. Released around the same time and, to my knowledge, neither have been buffed.

Their first skills are identical in focus boost and CD, except Kanako also gets +1 barrier.
For their other skills, Byakuren gets a 1.5 focus boost, star dmg down, and rank 2 party yang def for 2 turns while Kanako gets two rank 2 self yin/yang def boosts that can be spread out over 3 turns. Now, Byakuren could maybe win in this scenario since her buff is party-wide, but most of her skills, her spellcards, and her focus shot all boost her focus. She is made to be targeted by enemies and yet the buff is for the whole party. It's also only yin def, and can't be stacked to a 4.8 buff for 2 turns like Kanako's.
It's also Byakuren's only defense buff that she can activate repeatedly. She can get yang def through her first spellcard, but that limits her to two yang buffs per fight/tower run. She also gives party-wide yang on graze, but that requires her to give up a layer of barrier and it only lasts one turn. She can also get yang def for 3 turns after being attacked, but the coinflip activation makes it unreliable when you'd need it.
Speaking of their passives, Kanako also has a coin flip (frog hunting), but it's okay for it to not activate for several turns because her defensive buffs and military god guard work together to keep her hp near 100%. Even though Kanako's contest of strength is unreliable and only can activate when her health is where it shouldn't be at, I still think Kanako wins in terms of passives. While Byakuren's demon nun spirit can salvage her passives, it's locked behind her last, expensive upgrade.
Of course, Byakuren has healing in her kit, but it's tied to her spread shot. I thought it was great at first, but overall it's inferior to Kanako's passive healing. In short fights, you'll never want her spread shot instead of her spellcards. And for longer fights, like tower solo-enemy stalling, Kanako's option to use her focus shot while getting automatically healed just makes the fight end faster.
Also, Byakuren's spread shot uses yin attack, when her yin attack is the 3rd lowest in both global and JP. This doesn't matter too much, since neither her nor Kanako have innate offensive buffs, but Kanako at least has mostly yang bullets on all of her attacks. Byakuren even has a spellcard that's entirely yin, for no reason.
Spellcards (non-LW): Kanako's give P, target two elements, are all-targeting, and have 2-2-1 patterns. Byakuren's give focus, target one element, are solo-targeting, and have 1-2-2 and 1-1-3 patterns. There's some nuance I could get into, like Byakuren's slicing effect or partial healing versus Kanako's modest range of effective damage, but Kanako's obviously win out in terms of being generally useful.
LW: Byakuren's is all-targeting, has slice, has some bullets effective against humans, has no elements, and a 1-2-2 pattern. Kanako's is solo-targeting, has higher accuracy than normal, has most bullets effective against humans, dumb frogs, and gods, has mostly metal bullets, and a 2-2-1 pattern. For grinding, Byakuren might be the better pick, but her 1-2-2 pattern and lack of offensive buffs make her ill-equipped to deal with 1-wave stages. For 3-wave stages, the fact that her spellcard are all solo-targeting makes her very limited versus Kanako's all-targeting. For tower, Kanako is obviously stronger, since she has elemental bullets and more effective damage on her LW, which helps overcome her lack of innate offense.

I could make this post even longer by talking about their Abilities in more detail, or how fucking useless focus is, but even compared to a non-buffed tank, Byakuren is inferior in every aspect. I love her, and I'm using her to grind Exhibition 7 because it's basically built for her, but good lord does she need a buff.

Mokou was an unwanted child, it's not explained why but despite being nobility she was treated like dirt. Despite THAT, Mokou still very much valued and felt kinship with her family. Her father cheated on her mother and tried to marry Kaguya, and couldn't and was humiliated for it. Out of a sense of honor, allegedly, she sought revenge.

It could be honor, that's the only thing she's ever claimed, but you could speculate that she was trying to earn her father's respect by defending HIS honor. She is also, in some way, responsible for Mokou being immortal, which Mokou does not like. Mokou killed a man and drank the elixir completely on her own, but regrets all of that, and blames Kaguya also for that fate of hers (the elixir only exists because of her "to be fair")

Long story short: Mokou's reasons for hating Kaguya are complete horse shit. Kaguya originally didn't even know Mokou existed but has since come to value her a lot. The grudge Mokou has is barely real anymore. All in all on a "badness" scale, Mokou is worse. Kaguya's crimes are: "getting an elixir made which was bad, and drinking it" and, I guess, "being kind of a dick". Not even for giving suitors impossible tasks--she's just kinda dickish to people, but honestly doesn't she have reason to be? Even after all that she can be very polite. Mokou can't and has mental issues. She literally went insane for a while.

That said I like Mokou more because Mokou is really *cool* and Kaguya is kind of annoying. For what it's worth the sources of their grudges really barely registers, it's mostly about having a unique bond between unique beings now, for better or worse

The difficulty is fun, but the reward is pretty bad. Who at NN thought it was a good idea to spread out the wood types through difficulty rewards? And also the amount of special wood rewarded is too low. You need 20 days minimum for a character to get fully enhanced up to the soft cap. Focus on soft cap, NN wants to release another material on top of the new ones to limit break enhancing and keep upgrading with the special wood.

The easiest way to look at story cards is to think of which ones you want to keep, instead of which ones you should trash.
I think it's generally good practice to keep all 5* cards, one MLB copy of all 4* and 3* cards, and then the 4* and 3* that provide offensive buffs like cellphone or boo! But you might also consider keeping ones with unique effects like rabbit of good fortune. Trash the rest.

Not a JP player but a Joon lover: She's got atk buffing skills which is more than most characters have, but in that same sense she's outclassed by every single other attacker in the game. There's a hundred things wrong with her, ranging from minor to major, the most notable being low elemental access, two non-damage spellcards, and a solo-target 1-1-3 LW. Several of the effects she has conflict with each other, so she's clearly a character you're supposed to use manually, except no one does manual outside the tower and even in the tower you'd be better off using units with more coherent and helpful kits.

That being said, she's really cute, so if they add her to global she'll be the best unit in the game.

I like to keep as many copies as I can of spirit P up cards and accuracy cards (and obviously 5 stars cards).
For other cards I MLB one copy of each and then trash all "protection up" cards because they suck

What cards should you keep duplicates of until you have more than enough to MLB?
That's a tricky one. I personally haven't MLB'd yin/yang atk 2 up cards like Ordinary Magician or Overwhelming Firepower, since a lot of units want them and I don't like having to constantly swap cards between units. Because of the way buffs stack in this game, five Overwhelming Firepowers are going to let you do more damage than one MLB'd Overwhelming Firepower as long as you can activate all five of your spellcards.
I think a good metric is: If you use it often on multiple units, get many copies or equivalent story cards before MLBing. I'm planning on merging my Overwhelming Firepowers once I get a few more 小傘ちゃんがこわすぎる MLB'd
