Hey, /jp/ this is my first time here, and I want to tell everyone something!

In about 9 months I am going to Japan for 1 year as an exchange student. I currently live in Canada, and I am so excited to go there.

Only a few things that sucks;
Expensive as shit,
Way different culture (which I'm happy to find out)
I can't drive there.
I can't drink there.
I will only be able to read some things, I don't know much kanji, only hiragana and katakana.
and probably I'll miss my family and Canada...

This. Also, they LOVE foreigners, I am from the USA and did this exchange program 2 years ago. Also, the girls love blond boys, so if you have blond hair you should be popular with the ladies.

I was blessed with blond hair and blue eyes , so I have experience.

I watched a lot of exchange student's videos on Youtube and they all said the same thing;
The friends you meet and the teachers you have all are really nice. also, they don't expect you to know too much Japanese so it's kind of easy. This will be more of a vacation then anything. yay

You won't need to with all the public transportation readily available. (subways, trains, buses)

I honestly have no idea what the exchange student experience is like in Japan. When I went, I already had a beastly level of Japanese and as such was treated like a novelty item by every Japanese person who bothered to talk to me.

Japan is tits, at least for little while; then it just seems normal.

OP i can give you many tips , i spend like 1/4 of a year in Japan for a very long time.

Tell me what city you will live.

And about your problems.
You dont need a car in Japan ,subway FTW.

Going out to eat and drink with friends can be expansive, but you dont have to go everyday out.
Alcohol should be no
problem for you to buy
At your school you will learn much about writting.
and last ofc you will miss your family every1 miss there friends and family when they go for a long time away,but you will get used to that after a few weeks when you make new friends
