The different take on the universe by various artists makes it a rich fan base. There is moe, shounen power levels and Grim and dark. Everything to cater to your tastes.

>Powerlevel shounen

Spellcard system effectively renders powerlevels useless.

>GRIM DARK

Spellcard system effectively renders GRIMDARK impossible.

Find the correct answer by elimination.

Three games utilize brute strngth as opposed to spell cards and ZUN factors powerlevels into his character selection. Wanna know why Kaguya and Mokou couldn't make it into the latest brawler game? ZUN said it was because they were too strong.

>GRIM DARK
The story in SA was fairly dark and IN is fairly dark as well so spell card rules don't effct that.

Spellcards are the entire point of Touhou's story. Anything else is irrelevant.

Yes I do. It means "a problem with the order in which things occur" more or less; it can also refer to things being out of their element.

In Touhou, first there is the conflict (GRIMDARK, incidents), then the resolution (Moe slice of life, tea party). The order I listed is backwards and would be out of place.

PCB had a girl who commited suicide in order to stop an evil soul devouring tree who was unwittingly trying to resurrect herself thus undoing the seal on the accursed tree.

Touhou has tons of dark/grim plots going on, but people focus on the moe more.

Touhou has some means of a plot, but more of a setting than a narrative.

As for the setting, Touhou relates to myth and legend much the same way MGS relates to sound military doctrine.
