It probably won't be a problem. You should be able to delete the older set if you want, though. The newer set is from NC adding an English translation a few versions ago, and change the file name in the process. Danalin should also be translated again, but the file wasn't renamed, so it *should* have just overwrite the old version on it's own. ...probably.

I liked Elona+, it de-emphasizes grind and generally stops you from fucking up to badly as well as fixing some "exploits" that can be considered game breaking. Pretty casual, but then again, that's casual for a roguelike which is still not very casual. It also has some different birth settings like hardcore, and a couple of other ones too. Translation is a bit lacking though.

Though if you want ANY idea what is happening later in the game play custom g. It machine translates all the stuff custom didn't translate.

Elona, any variant, doesn't show up in other threads or LIVE on other boards due to how a bunch of factors work against it. The biggest being the community for it isn't huge so outside of JP the threads die pretty quick, and when it shares a thread most elona talk is buried.

Its a lot of chaotic fun so far. I've failed the tutorial twice. I made a fairy character but he couldn't equip the longbow during combat because it was to heavy, so I think from the fairy bio they can't carry much. So basically I thought I would just fire breathe the monsters, but it was an AOE attack, not a one tile in front kind of move. I pissed off the tutorial npcs and they murdered me.

I like to compare it to weeb dwarf fortress, but with a UI that isn't shit.
Because it's much more of a outright crazy RPG/sim than it is a pure roguelike.
You can go town to town with a grand piano on your back, performing for money, or you can start your own farm of catgirls that you gradually breed and genetically splice into killing machines. Regardless of version, you'll either need to devote a good amount of time to learning it or watch some videos.

I'd play Elona+ Custom G because it's the most accessible, even if it's outdated.

Well, you can, omake adds a couple dozen npcs and custom putits already. You just need an npc pack. Over in japan there's a ton of custom npcs already, but no one on the English side has bothered to package/translate them.

They might unless the abilities IDs happened to overlap. Most custom npcs come with version compatibility notices. Having said that, plus, mma, and nc, are the only versions you'd need to worry about as they have all the abilities below them in their respective chains. Older custom npcs could also be a problem since newer OO versions added new abilities. But that won't cause a crash, they'll just use the wrong skills if they happen to overlap the added IDs.

You don't need custom for custom npcs. It's just a coincidental naming choice, custom NPCs were added way back in vanilla. Those specific packs were made for plus and could cause issues in omake, but some of them might work just fine.

Just started playing OOMSESTepNC and my favorite feature so far is loyter killing npc bards.

Idea to quickly gain god favor : equip ragnarok, activate the end ability at truce ground(maybe hit an ally or summon monsters for it), slaughter dragons and titans for their high value corpses and immediately sac them. A character capable of clearing act 1 with some attribution shield/good resists and decent DV/PV should be capable of doing this, twice over with some smart application of wall creation.

Easy. The first thing you want is the ability to whip up picnic baskets to restore your stat potentials. The second thing you want is a statue of Kumiromi to get herb seeds. By the time you're done with that, you'll know what you're doing.

All the game's graphics are in BMP files that you can edit as you see fit. Personally, I make ice cave floor tiles darker so that spiderwebs are more visible.

Usually when Ano does this its because he is mad that somebody found an exploit and doesn't want it carrying into new saves, and not due to any real incompatibility with the data. So if you are a bad enough dude to analyze decompiled HSP, then its probably possible to remove the check that prevents you from loading the save data.

Your stats got lowered by Touch of Weakness or somesuch. A healer NPC can restore you.

If memory serves, it would've been used in Noa's artifact fusion system, which he never implemented beyond random enchantments having that mark. Ano's artifact fusion system doesn't use it for anything, so the mark has no effect in Elona+ and you can just ignore it.

Same as any other monster, yes. They're low-level initially, but durable, and they're quite powerful when fully evolved. You can also add a couple equipment slots to them without incurring a speed penalty, so they're customizable that way as well.

It's one of those games that seems super confusing at first, but it's like a 'hump' and after you get over the initial weirdness and get the base elements, everything else just sort of clicks, even though the complexity keeps going up and there's always more and more systems.

I still have no idea what evochat does or is for. Or why the fuck my wife won't sleep with me.

There's nothing quite like it though, it's worth the time investment. I wouldn't say the same for something like Dwarf Fortress, because with all it's systems and complexity, the game still runs a very basic gameplay loop that you can't do anything with. Make fortress, make fortress self-sufficient, expand until megabeast or invasion fucks you over. I feel Elona is much more open-ended in what you can pursue and do.

Early game especially can really change due to it. If you're just getting started and don't have godlies, well, you have lots now. Along with the many other tweaks, it kinda feels like Ano is telling you that only his content matters.

Looked around the changelogs and found out more about it.
It works with allies or ranch animals, as long as you give em the milk when they're hungry enough. If it's blessed it counts as 2 milks. You can throw it or just give it to em. I think if you give it to them they won't drink it until their satiety is low enough for it to work.

Basically they start at size -5, and size 0 is normal. Each milk, if they are hungry enough, will bring the size up by one, but blessed milk brings it up by two (and cursed milk brings it down 1).
If you use normal milks you need a total of 5.
The most efficient is 2 blessed milks and 1 normal milk.
You can't make them bigger than normal unfortunately.
It seemed to only work when the creature was listed as a party member though (they could still be a breeder in the ranch), but maybe I just threw it at a ranch animal too early.

Water is decently common (E+C at least). Just look for untinted potion bottles.

Always get Barrier and Charm for everyone, as getting a second lifebar and auto-Dimming physical attackers will help you and your pets live much longer. Don't forget high-quality for your pets, either, as it gives big resistances to a lot of nasty shit.
