Has anyone used benzoyl peroxide/zit cream/Dream Rescue on dolls outside of the white-to-peach range of vinyl? I'm wondering if it'll bleach out Dollfie Icon or SmD Interstellar Blue pigments, or darker tans and cocoa.

I collect dolls of both kinds, so I have no problems with them personally, but I have to ask- why is there so much drama in the resin side of the hobby? Vinyl collectors have to deal with Danny Choo, but beyond that it's pretty quiet here at least as far as I've seen.

Based on social media I would say there's plenty of Japanese-language vinyl drama, so it might be a matter of sample size. Any group will have its percentage of crazies, so the bigger the group, the more people that percentage represents.

I think the way resin BJDs are attractive as a medium for original character art means that resin collectors are likelier to have their ego invested in the hobby (see how the obsession with Mirai telegraphed Danny's narcissism long before SmD was a thing). I tried cheering myself up by thinking I could commission something similar, only to find out everyone in the west charges out the ass but also has vastly inferior quality and has a bunch of bullshit rules/hoops you have to jump through just to be a customer. When buying clothes check the measurements. 1/3 is the 'general' size for a lot of dolls, but that doesn't mean it fits them all. Volks clothes will tell you if they fit a certain doll, but third party sellers often carry for other non-Volks models too. Pants in particular can be a problem because not all 1/3 dolls have the same length legs.

Is it a DDf3 body? Because if so it's a known issue. The leg only stays in place if you get it in a certain notch. I recommend removing both legs and practicing to get a feel for it before putting the doll back together. Don't feel bad, we get someone asking about this pretty regularly.

What is the best way to see if their is a crack? I've never completely took the doll apart. The most I've done is removed the extremities and modified the back for a silicone bust.

What do you normally use? Don't feel bad, my home's lighting is shit for photos too. Camera flash is usually too harsh, I recommend making (or buying) a diffuser or a softbox for whatever light source you're using. A lot of people use ring lights.

Hello from Appalachia the trees are killing me, the grass is killing me, and I can't mow the lawn because our lawnmower was stolen and I haven't been able to replace it yet. Since you seem to suffer from similar problems, my tip is to get a cheap plastic shower liner from the store and keep it with you when you're out taking photos, dolls or otherwise. Keeps you clean and dry even if you have to lay on the ground. I especially use it in winter -- it doesn't make the snow less cold, but it does keep it from melting through my clothes.

There are MDD male chests available on Taobao (and probably other places as well, I've seen people on instagram re-selling the chests from Taobao), obviously they aren't official by VOLKS but they seem interesting. I've been thinking of getting a MDD boy too and I'm considering those Taobao chests.

From what I can tell, it has a lot to do with logistics and the resin audience vs the vinyl audience. Vinyl is much more aimed at the anime audience and has a stronger male client base so they stick with popular female characters for licensed dolls and so most of the parts for customs available are also female.
There's also the internal skeleton to think about. Most male resin dolls are tall as shit (65-70+cm), so for vinyl to have wardrobe accessibility they would have to be taller and need a new skeleton to match.
That's what I've put together from the few social posts I could find about it anyway. If you want a male doll in resin though, holy shit options, options, options everywhere.

There's definitely a clientele for male vinyl doll though, which is why it mystifies me why Volks won't make more official male DDs--the few male DD character dolls they HAVE made sell for sometimes two to three times their original price on the aftermarket now. Even Danny Chewtoy doesn't seem to want to capitalize off of the demand, his official ones stay out of stock while people pawn off their older male Smart Dolls on the secondhand market for $300-500 markups.

Meanwhile on the Japanese vinyl market Dollfie customizers capitalize on the Bishounen/Shota shortage by making DD customs. There's one artist on Y!J who sells slutty male Dollfie Dream customs, each one comes with a customized head and a full outfit(s)/some accessories (and said outfits are super repetitive too, with only a few differences on each doll). None of these customs she makes sells for under two thousand dollars. Usually they go for between four to seven thousand, and I saw one get to nearly ten thousand dollars.

This showed up on Y!J, I've never seen an anime-styled Volks Super Dollfie but now I really want one...it's like the aesthetic I wish they'd done for their Rozen Maiden series.
