That's a subjective question. It's hard to say.
Personally, probably about 4 years ago. Some might say earlier than that. There were problems of course, but things were still nice then in the time I had to drop by. I wish there were more unique posters leading into now, but that's something from a bygone era.
There were interesting people that I came across, but that's about it. The funniest thing to me were some of the posting styles.
Some days I go back into the archive and can tell which posts I made. I'm some others can do the same.

Personally, I think a lot of /jp/'s practical functions no longer exist. Talents and h-art artists have unfortunately moved to various social networks and from my own understanding a lot of us /jp/sies have gone to Twitter and other social networks with them.

Some of the board traditions still persist, but I agree somewhat. It's not so far gone that there aren't people getting on others for bad behavior anymore if you can call it that.
Some still stick to tradition, even if they need to be reminded of it.

I know. I don't particularly blame them. There's not much else I can say either.

The simple answer, is that it's just how kids act. It's also how artists/comedians/musicians act, so it's probably some sort of actual mental issue. If you mean the shitposts, then it's a sort of reaction against people such as Invader Zim fans and how anime fangirls acted in the early 2000s. In relative modern times people seem to have some sort of intrinsic hate here against absurdism as humor.
