I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Japanese, is in fact, Chinese/kana, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Chinese plus Kana. Japanese is not a language unto itself, but rather another derivative of a fully functioning Language made useful by the pretty letters comprising a full Language. Many Japanese speakers speak in a modified version of the Chinese Language every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Chinese which is widely used in Japan is often called Japanese, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Chinese Language, developed by the Chinese people. There really is a Japanese Language, and these people are speaking it, but it is just a part of the Language they use. The Kana is an essential part of an language, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete Language. Japanese is normally used in combination with the Chinese language: the whole system is basically Chinese with Kana added, or Chinese/Kana.

What the fuck is "Chinese?" There's the Cantonese or the "real" Chinese that stems from the actual language created in the Kan era used in Taiwan, Hong Kong where the smart and educated people live and the Mandarin, the retarded cousin of Cantonese created for retarded uneducated people peasant living in most of other parts of China that can't compete with the complex Cantonese.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as French, is in fact, Latin/croaks, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Latin plus croaks. French is not a language unto itself, but rather another derivative of a fully functioning Language made useful by the pretty letters comprising a full Language. Many French speakers speak in a modified version of the Latin Language every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Latin which is widely used in France is often called French, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Latin Language, developed by the Roman people. There really is a French Language, and these people are speaking it, but it is just a part of the Language they use. The croaks are an essential part of an language, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete Language. French is normally used in combination with the Latin language: the whole system is basically Latin with croaks added, or Latin/croaks.

so if I learn chinese I could speak japanese?

>is in fact, Chinese/kana

Japanese is kanji and kana, no shit? I stopped reading there btw.

>> No.3403238

Japanese is a language. Chinese is a language. The official script (writing system) used to write Chinese is called Hanzi. The same script, in Japanese, and also used to write Japanese, is called Kanji. You can however completely write Japanese in another script: Kana. Or you can write it in "Romaji", which would be Latin script. You can even write it in Cyrillic script.

A language and the script used to write it are two different things. You wrote in English (language), using Latin script. Next time please do not just read the headings when you come across a language-related article, you may learn something...
