Please read 2-3 sites before playing and even then try the singleplayer games first.
Playing without knowing what you do is not only frustrating for yourself but also for your opponents, a player that left because he couldn't ron for his no Yaku hand or because someone ron'd his discard just kills the whole fun for everyone.

Usually, a game lasts around 30 minutes, so please, if you're not going to stay until the end, respect the other players and don't join a new game.

Also keep in mind that Mahjong is more a game of "not losing" than straightforward winning.
Furthermore you play with 3 other people and luck plays a big part in it, so dont expect to win more than 1 out 4 games, especially not as a beginner.

Actually it became an extremely dangerous hand when I kan'ed the 2 pin and the new dora indicator became the 1-pin. That was why he was playing very defensive and he tried to deal the winning tile to the guy who Richii'ed earlier.

And the other scenario, I think he would have dealt the live tile eventually. He was trying to read my hand judging by his discards..

11-12 is sanbaiman, 36000 as east and 24000 as any other player.
Kazoe Yakuman (or counted yakuman is 13 yaku or more, and is worth 48000 as East/36000 other winds. Or you can just complete a Yakuman hand ( like Daisangen, Kokushimusou, Suu Ankou, etc).

Just to summarize why I am complaining, it is directed towards bot users. the guy in 1st place obviously used a bot and allowed him to do data mining on players discards and develop a hand that is likely the player will discard or whatever tiles are still available. Under normal circumstances, this is not possible for a human without using a lot of time to analyze the player's pond and their own hands. there is one major weakness to the bot and if I ever see one in the lounge, I will exploit it and make the bot lose.

Botting does exist in Tenhou. If you see a screenname with NoName's in them, there's a very good chance those are bot users. Response time is the key to differentiate between normal players and bot players.

Alvin who owns arcturus.su/tenhou is kind of busy, but TRA and the others have sounded off so I'll just clarify the minor issues. Firstly, you are talking about bots like they are some kind of tenhou hacking system. In fact they are just a normal program that discards tiles and does stuff. Alvin and the others are working on stuff like AI opponents in 7447 etc, so you can get actually get some sane opponents. Other than that it's just for laughs (and some statistical experiments, you can look forward to the results in osamu's blag), there's no way the AI can compare to any human player. The AI is extremely primitive in its current state and none of us are that stupid to get it to play for us - we are generally of a decent rank.

Bernd is one of our best players and he has placed impressively in internal tournaments as well as in the european tournament scene. You can check out one of his trip reports in the blog.

Also, if you haven't found out yet, running a championship thing every day doesn't do much, it's hard to get loads of different people to log on at the same time, other than during the very start, and championship mode which counts your best streak is at best high variance, and at worst a carnival of rage.

Neither me, nor TRA (really one of our best players) are/played as bots. I just got damn lucky in the last 2 tournaments, luck streaks I'm unfortunately lacking in 0000. Also, I didn't really have good opponents most of the time as it seemed.
I'm not really a good player myself, as you can conclude from my shitty 0000 ranked stats.

As MOUIKKAI already suggested, Bernd is just the ``Anonymous'' of krautchan.net and the bots created by Alvin (aka mittens and ponbot modification by TRA) are just a very basic AI, following normal rules without any cheats.
