I always found it so weird that, for a porn game protagonist, Shirou has sexual awareness of a child. I know it's often the case in harem anime and shit like that, but those things are always 14+, so you can't have a womanizer protagonist for obvious reasons.

Playing FGO while reading Tsukihime is one hell of an interesting experience.
The last event on the English server just ended with Kama getting sent into orbit where she got shot down with Asura's bow by Parvati because Kama was a naughty goddess who wanted to incinerate humanity by creating a pocket universe in the basement of Tokugawa's medieval not!harem building because Kama is actually Kama/Mara and also a Beast, but it's okay because after Kama got BTFO, Kiara drags her out of some other pocket dimension and makes her your servant. Also, both Kama and Parvati are Sakura. And this is actually a pretty mundane occurrence, all things considered.

We really did come a long way from vampires punching each other in school corridors.

That's definitely not the case. The western fanbase is still relatively small compared to Japan. However it's true that Tsukihime being extremely pricey puts off lots of Japanese people, and there are probably more *new* fans outside of Japan than in it. Whereas we wouldn't think twice about pirating a doujin game that isn't even officially sold any more, the vast majority of nips refuse to play it without paying some randomer on yahoo auctions a few hundred dollars.
You get a lot of people in Tsukihime threads saying they've only watched the manga/seen the anime and are happy they'll be able to play the remake. Where I've looked, I've never seen anyone even bring up the idea of pirating it, which is a far cry from our threads which have download links in the OP.

I feel kind of bad for them. They don't get the entire Far-Side part, which is like playing FSN and only getting through Fate. I know Nasu will add some stuff to Arc and Ciel to counterbalance this lack of routes, but newfags still won't know anything about Akiha or the maids, and they most likely won't know about Sacchin either. And imagine not knowing Arc in her original glory, her sprites are still some of the best character art Takeuchi ever did.
Honestly, TM should've packaged the original Tsukihime with this game. For example, if you 100% the game (with all dead ends and stuff) you unlock it as a bonus feature. They'd have to rework the sex scenes, but it would've been worth the effort.

I just realized Shiki's apartment is empty because it's a metaphor of her state of mind after losing SHIKI, she literally reached emptiness and has no desire outside of a bed to sleep, a fridge to drink water and a phone to work, and the single unnecessary element is Kokuto that bumped into her life and offered her ice cream, an expensive sweetness that is unnecessary to live but becomes necessary for her outside the realm of emptiness. She longs for something she can't reach and she finally reaches it in that beautiful yet seemingly out of place sequence of Shiki opening the ice cream with one arm, putting a ton of efforts into it. For the first time she decided to put effort in something useless. Happiness in knk (which is heavily influenced by Buddhism with akasha and araya) is about understanding the vacuity of things, accepting them as part of the universe, and still acting with this consciousness, not losing yourself in emptiness, because the most useless of things have still more to offer than you may think, and this is why people like Enjou whose origin is literal Worthlessness, do, in fact, still have worth in surprising ways.

Why would you want a Fate remake? Tsukihime's remake is actually justified given it was a doujin game with no VA and made on a shoe string budget. F/SN is perfectly great as is. The most I could see is an HD remaster or some shit.

>>34019945
>The next question is about the music. In addition to Keita Haga, your musician for the doujin version, Hideyuki Fukasawa is joining the team. What kind of soundtrack are you making?

>Takeuchi: We had Fukusawa as the main composer for this game because Haga was too busy making music for FGO. Most songs are based on the ones Haga composed for the doujin back in the day, so we could say Fukusawa is composing while Haga is setting the direction. The process followed this format for the most part, but the OST does have some tracks composed by Haga's own hands, and some by Mr. Kegani, who we had hired to compose the main theme.

>Nasu: All songs included in the doujin version have been improved to sound like the songs in the trailer did.

>Takeuchi: At the first phase of production, Fukusawa was struggling a lot to get a good grasp of what TsukiR was supposed to feel like as a game. But during production, we've been slowly solidifying Tsukihime's new image, so he managed to make a lot of tracks that elevate the excitement of a Kinoko Nasu Urban Fantasy Game. TsukiR's OST is an absolute blast to listen through.

>Nasu: I had to send Fukusawa the game's complete story file because the story is the only thing we had ready at the time... It took forever before he understood how things would look like. But after this long period of trials and tribulations, every piece he composed was truly wonderful... "Our battle OST rocks! Wait, but it doesn't mesh well with this other battle... Could you please make another one?", rinse and repeat until we ended with over 90 tracks on our OST.

Yeah even if all the songs in the original is getting in, that doesn't sound inspiring. I already think his work in UBW speaks for itself here by how forgettable it was. They would have better luck with the nonexistant anime and stealing tracks by Toshiyuki O'mori to remaster than what they are planning now.

But when you give restrictions to him like dictating direction and music to go where like what happened in UBW, I don't think he does good enough work there. And TsukiR's situation is leaning as a repeat of UBW rather than a Mahoyo situation where he has more free reign. I hope to see the best from him regardless but the description of how he struggled and now has something to work with because they solidified a direction for the soundtrack doesn't give me confidence and I rather they do the stealing tracks thing if this is what it is coming down to.

I wonder how both Nasu and Takeuchi feel about this, in private. FGO was never supposed to be a big project, more like a mobile toy for Fatefags to play with, with Nasu barely being involved. CCC was supposed to be the last actual piece of Fate lore, then they were planning on doing Mahoyo 2 and thrusting Tsukihime back into the spotlight. With how things were back then, it felt like Nasu was really tired of shounen, and wanted to go back to the urban fantasy roots of his works, with less teenagers kicking Gods around and more real people in fantasy worlds. Then FGO skyrocketed to the scale that rocked the entire Japanese entertainment world to the core, beyond anything anyone could ever dream of. So, back into the shounen mines Nasu went, and we haven't heard from him ever since.
If I were in his place, I would honestly be pretty pissed about it. It's like if an artist tried to make the greatest piece of art he could possibly make while getting less and less engagement, only to draw a small doodle later, and that doodle ended up surpassing the entire gallery he's been working on his whole life. I know that it's silly to pity someone who could be wiping his tears with Benjamins, but it does make for an interesting story.

Maybe he thinks that his works are untranslatable, or something stupid like that. I wonder if he's even aware that almost everything he wrote was translated into English ages ago.

Nasu and Takeuchi made their bed by going in this direction for Type Moon as a company so they should lie in it. I doubt Takeuchi has much regrets here but Nasu might. But it was still their choice. They could've refused making more Fate material and delaying making anything until their new original works were out but they didn't do it.

As for your line of thinking, you are way too far ahead in time. When Type Moon released their upcoming works circa 2008 being Mahoyo, Girl's Work, and the Tsukihime remake with the Kara no Kyokai movies working themselves in the pipeline one by one, and none of the Fate spinoffs were really in full swing. They could've easily slowed down then. Instead, they went deeper and deeper into getting various Fate spinoffs out with Fate/Extra really being the turning point there. If they didn't make that game, then I think the roadmap set out for non-Fate properties could've been preserved. Instead, the company dug themselves into a deeper hole after that point and it's probably some sort of miracle we got Mahoyo at all given where the focus of the company went and the money that came in from milking the franchise being a big incentive to stop everything else that wasn't Fate related.

Still, I don't think they ever planned for anything like this. Nasuverse was always supposed to grow organically, with Fate being the most profitable and approachable part of it. But FGO ended up growing to such scale that it cannibalized all of it completely. FGO now is an entire universe with its own history, mythology, and philosophy, it's not just modern urban tales about ancient beings, we have giant battles against Tiamat herself in fucking Mesopotamia. That's why Nasu needs to tie Tsukihime back to FGO somehow - in FGOs universe, a story like Tsukihime won't even be a blip on the radar, so something needs to be adjusted (particularly the scope, hence why we won't be dealing with local murders in some small town anymore).
It's a shame, really. This growth wasn't organic nor was it intended, and now projects outside of FGO will have to suffer for it.

I don't think you or anyone else can define or even set a metric for growth in a fictional universe's canon being organic or not, and it's kind of meaningless. Growth is growth. Who said it had to grow by some set metric or definition of being "organic" even if there was an agreed definition or target for "organic"? Nasu and by extension, Type-Moon the company, is in charge of where the Nasuverse goes. It's not like laypeople like us can dictate anything about it. So it's pointless to look at the company from that standpoint.

You have to take a objective look at what the company made and what kind of incentives and effort was made into each work to make some sort of determination on how various projects and etc. came out and would've affected one another because that is really the only speculation that makes sense by logic. If Type-Moon had financial statements and was a public company, you could go even further and get financial correlations with these speculations as well which would make them more likely.

In any case, back to the growth of the Nasuverse itself, it's not like Nasu and Type-Moon didn't have ways to curtail it, one could've stopped FGO's growth at any point by refusing all the collaborations, expansions, and keeping the project to its original scope. But Type-Moon were in no position to do so especially when the groundwork of FGO involved signing with Aniplex/Sony to bankroll the project which means whatever business will always come first over creative control. But that doesn't mean that the entirety of Type Moon's creative output is tied to that FGO contract, and to be bluntly honest, it wouldn't have been hard in the first place to containerize FGO from the rest of the Fate and Nasuverse so it can be its own thing seperated from everything else. But the company didn't do it obviously so that the success of FGO would allow for other works in the Nasuverse to effectively leech off its success more than just having Type-Moon the company's name and reputation on that work.

In any case, along the way of FGO's success, there were ways for Nasu and Type-Moon to independently establish itself outside of the broader Nasuverse and they never constrained it for reasons that are most likely financial for the company itself. Certainly, Tsukihime could be tied back to FGO somehow for that same reasoning, but at the current moment, there is no indication that would happen given no one knows how the story would play out and there is nothing contractual about it other than the fact that they are going to release on consoles. I'm not saying that one would be wrong for assuming Tsukihime will have to tie back to FGO given past Type-Moon actions but the possibility is always there for Type-Moon to keep it independent.

>In a world where the human order (kanji: law of humanity) beats like life and Heroic Spirits (heroic phantasms and mysteries) are sometimes summoned in the form of Servants, the
Dead Apostles (monsters of death) that humans have transformed into have no special power. If a creature that lives off of consuming life and blood is possible in a world where the law of humanity pulsates, then it is a creature of phantasms. A creature that manifested as mystery.

>Nasu Kinoko-sama. For teaching me about the state of [redacted] and [redacted] in Fate worlds and the relevant details (that although their [redacted] as phantasmal species grants them power, Dead Apostles cannot hold as much power as in a certain work, and so on──), in addition to approving the idea about exploring a dungeon with Servants as well as your oversight, I am truly thankful.

Anyway, the reason why I think the result of Zelretch-CM fight = the cause of Tsuki/Fate worlds seperation was because the battle happened in 300 AD, and in Case Files you have this
>"That's right. If I unravel one of my past calculations...depending on the circumstances, he (Blackmore) might have become my comrade."
>"Your comrade? A Dead Apostle from one or two thousand years ago?"
>"Ah, in those circumstances the number would have been more than twenty. Even though it's only a possibility of what could have been, for me a connection exists even through just that. Although, before I was born, the possibility of becoming comrades with Blackmore was───like the end of several possible branches, it was cut off nearly 1700 years ago."

Arc can act somewhat possessive, but it's endearing to me so she gets a pass.

There's one thing that's been bothering me about Shiki's new design, and I feel like not a lot of people are thinking about it. Old Shiki wore these huge round glasses, which covered half of his face. New Shiki wears normal glasses.
But he's not wearing glasses for better vision, he needs to cover his entire view so he won't see the lines. With his old glasses, you can imagine it working, but with new glasses, he would constantly be seeing lines in his peripheral vision. I wonder if Takeuchi ever wore glasses himself, to make such a silly mistake.

Hopefully it gets rewritten, because it was always pretty stupid. Ciel doesn't know how to save Shiki, but Arcueid does. Yet, as she begs you to listen to her, you cut her throat open and run away, then you fight her and send her back to the castle of eternal solitude, only to end up doing the exact thing she wanted you to do in the first place.
The good end, where you do listen to Arc, then Ciel arrives, they have an argument, and you figure things out like civilized people, makes far more sense to me.
The problem with Arc in Ciel's route is that Arc never attacks you. She doesn't even show any weakness like she does in her own story, so she never gives you any reason to doubt her. Ciel's story could only end with Arc leaving if you act like a complete faglord to a person who never wronged you before.

Where did you get... any of that from?
Nasu lies a lot, so I'm not sure if his words hold any weight, but based on his interviews and blog entries, most of what you said doesn't add up.
FGO was always supposed to tie in to other works. According to Nasu, TsukiR, UBW anime finale and FGO's Babylonia were supposed to come out at around the same time and mention the same lore (Beasts). He was writing all 3 in 2013, way before anyone could have imagined the success of FGO.
Nasu was also always heavily involved in FGO's story. According to him, it takes ~12 months to make new Servants for FGO. This means that part 1 of FGO was made almost entirely before the first Anniversary, and before the popularity boom. This adds up because 2016 was the most packed year in FGO. TM/DW had piles of content ready beforehand (unlike now, when content is so slow that the game is declining). Camelot, Babylonia and Solomon are Nasu's work that existed before FGO became big. I'm sure Nasu changed things along the way, but not how heavily he participated in the project.
I'd also like to point out the scales increased way back in CCC. True Demon Kiara shoving the whole planet up her vagoo, Mooncancer BB controlling the Mooncell, High Servants made up of 3 Divine Spirits, Amaterasu, Mythological Mystic Codes able to fight against all that. What's more, Beasts have always been a thing. I suppose the Prototype Beast wasn't as absurd in scale as... every other that came after it. However, "Evils of Humanity" have been mentioned since 2010 or so. The term has been linked to bullshit strong characters like Amaterasu and Manaka since then too. And with Primate Murder being a Beast, and Beast VII about to fight ORT in FGO, no one can really say those retardedly strong characters are new. They're just more focused on nowadays, starting from CCC.
Lastly, Nasu is very adamant about CCC being his magnum opus, and his love for the Extra corner of the franchise. On his blog, he went on to say "I made FGO for this" when referring to the CCC collab (He also said FGO and TsukiR were both his homework for his next vampire story in some interview, so take that with a grain of salt). I don't think Nasu is sad at all. CCC event is FGO's most popular event by far. His piece of art is recognized. With FGO money, he made a video game studio named after CCC's most iconic character. He's remaking Extra and will probably remake CCC. FGO also indirectly allowed him to make Extella and Last Encore. That's just what he wants now.

Anyone else feel too old for Fate/TypeMoon? I got into it 11 years ago and trying to watch the HF movies I just winced at the cringe melodrama and shonen battles. Why am I supposed to care about the theme of “what does it mean to be a hero" again? That's a question only relevant to characters in action cartoons, it has no relevance to real life. And everything about Sakura is utterly banal as it tries to confront serious topics like rape but it ended up being such a joke that even the fanbase just memes about worms.

Doesn't help that it's less of a story and more of a Marvel/DC commercial machine nowadays. It's not even that I'm opposed to VNs of this type as I loved Dies Irae, something about Fate just feels like I've outgrown it.

Composers taking classic/folk songs and remixing them into something new is absolutely nothing special. Sometimes when you need to evoke a particular mood, there's no reason to reinvent the wheel, as long as your version stands on its own. There's also no need to credit them, for obvious reasons.
