Please read 2-3 sites before playing and even then try the singleplayer games first.
Playing without knowing what you do is not only frustrating for yourself but also for your opponents, a player that left because he couldn't ron for his no Yaku hand or because someone ron'd his discard just kills the whole fun for everyone.

Usually, a game lasts around 30 minutes, so please, if you're not going to stay until the end, respect the other players and don't join a new game.

Also keep in mind that Mahjong is more a game of "not losing" than straightforward winning.
Furthermore you play with 3 other people and luck plays a big part in it, so dont expect to win more than 1 out 4 games, especially not as a beginner.

My rage moments can't be shown in single pictures. They usually happen when I'm being targeted by other players who make quick open tanyao / yakupai hands only when I'm the dealer while my starting hand was already iishanten and I discard every tile I draw.

I should take a day off for some reading and number crunching. I want to see what the chances for Tenhou alone is, from there estimating the chances for each yakuman shouldn't be hard.

Yeah, I know. But I'm the first two riichi in the 7th turn and I'm over 10k points ahead and the guy across from me only has like 3k points left. I was trying to make it a quick game and put pressure on them by riichiing. I didn't expect to deal into a dealer riichi ippatsu while he hits three ura dora. Also pairs aren't that great anyways, especially honor pairs. I always get annoyed by the amount of people that call on honors, especially when they are in dead last anyways.

Also, the fourth tile in an honors kan is almost always a safe discard, since the only hand that could be waiting on it is a kokushi, which can be ruled out by the fact that everybody has open hands.

A needless kan is more likely to leave you with a dangerous discard. Imagine what would have happened if he had drawn the last 5pin.

I haven't played IRL myself and don't even know how much each stick is worth (except for the one used to riichi).

Stacking wall should be quite simple.

It is 2x14tiles. You roll the dice first. Start to count from the dealer to know which wall to start to the tiles from. Roll the dice again to know from which 14tiles you start taking the tiles from.

Take turn taking 4tiles. Then at the last turn, the dealer take 1tile + another tile two tile next turn it.
The rest all take 1more tile.

Of course since you stack the wall yourself, if you have good memory you can memorize your whole wall and play your discard base on it.

What's the point in shuffling all tiles when you look at them afterwards? What do I have my automated mahjong table for?

Since I haven't played IRL, I only saw that in Akagi (which is more about cheating by manipulating the wall, anyway)

It is not really cheating. Mahjong is a bit different from shuffling cards. Half of the tiles won't be face down and you can see them when you are shuffling them.

Probably that is the reason why they created automated table. I wonder if it possible to get them outside of japan. Japan might be the only place with automated mahjong table. Haven't seen one in HK or China before.
