Battler taking Ange to 1986 Rokkenjima to show that her family loved her reminds me a lot of one of my favorite movies, 'It's a Wonderful Life', with Clarence showing George how his life would have been if he was never born. After the journey, the protagonist has a big change of mindset that allow them to find happiness, even when nothing changed in their current situation. I wish they still made honest, sincere, emotional movies like this today.

I doubt it has much relevance, but I believe the only reason the chandelier gets used as a deadly trap is because Satoko is deeply hurt by her misunderstanding of Rika snitching on her. If that incident didn't happen who knows, maybe it wouldn't be the chandelier being used, maybe Satoko would change her mind. It all adds up in the end. My main criticism of Ciconia is that it's just very dull. In Episode 1 of Umineko we have a traditional orthodox murder mystery in the vein of And Then There Were None where all the the characters and their motivations are introduced to us before they're slowly picked off one by one by what is seemingly an outside force. Then Episode 2 comes around and it does the murder mystery again, but focusing on Rosa's character instead of Natsuhi this time round and it delves deeper into meta aspects like the logic battles between Beato and Battler that the reader can actually figure out for themselves if they want to. It's much more immediately compelling and enjoyable and Battler has like a clear goal and motivation and cool moments that make you root for him.

Whereas in Ciconia there are like 20 characters immediately dropped on us, whose motivations of "we must protect the walls of peace!" really just aren't as compelling as Battler's initial aims of denying magic, and then events just happen to these characters. They're strung along by secret societies that they don't know about and so there's no interesting conflict and drama like there was with Battler and Beatrice, it's just boring things happening to boring characters with boring motives who are entirely unaware of what's actually going on. But not in an interesting cat and mouse way, like when people were cornered in a conspiracy like in Higurashi or Umineko.

You can see a horizontal light stretching from left to right in the middle of the otherwise dark space, and I'm sure I've seen this sort of thing in movies like Tron to symbolize them being inside a computer.

They didn’t add any huge additional scenes that added more light to the fundamental plot, like how the episode 8 manga added the hide and seek games as well as confession of the golden witch. It also seems to condense scenes a lot compared to the anime, I think probably because they want to fit each arc into one volume. You can already see this happening with tataridamashi, they’re blazing through that one. I wonder how that will work once we hit Satokowashi since this arc is pretty long. I imagine the manga will really have to rush through that.

There's still a lot of stuff that feels amiss.
Aside from mirrored stuff and inconsistent objects (calendars and cards), there's also Satoko's traps. Especially the chandelier. I still don't understand how she managed to do it since it's so high up in the ceiling. We're talking about R07 here so there will be some tricks, but Satoko's traps is one of the mysteries right now up there with Featherine's (?) identity and goal because it seems like Satoko just assumed the she is Oyashiro-sama, which she might be or might not be. Or perhaps a mixed of both?
There's also that stuff about Takano and Oiishi not being injected. So I assume Satoko uncovered something fatal about the syndrome after the loops.

I can just feel that the punch-line will be something mind boggling in the final episode..

If we assume Satoko kills Rika then suicides in Onidamashi, then it is likely Satoko has survived longer than Rika in every fragment. The only exception to this might be in Nekodamashi during K1's rampage at Angel Mort. During K1's rampage Satoko is lying on the ground before K1 kills Rika. Was Satoko actually dead or was she just playing dead? The fragment after K1's rampage is the one were Satoko guts Rika, so I assume this is significant. Nah, R07 does not hate Higurashi. You have to keep in mind that R07 didn't actually write the script for Gou. He wrote an outline of the plot and sent it to Passione. What I think probably happened is that Passione embellished a lot of the details to fill up the time in the episodes, which is why Gou comes off as a big mess. R07 talked about how he's been surprised himself when episodes air at the stuff that Passione adds.

Yes, but the promise wasn't the sole reason why Yasu decided to kill everyone. So the comment R07 made during the live interview about Satoko having an indifferent look on her face when Rika is advising K1 to give Mion the doll makes sense now. Due to Satoko knowing what happened during the original 100 years of Rika's looping, Satoko knows that Mion getting the doll avoids the Shion massacre bad end. So Satoko wouldn't be happy to see Rika trying for a good end, it's her plan to make Rika think that there is no good end no matter what. It's liekly something similar happened in Onidamashi when Rika intervened to try and stop K1's rampage, Satoko already knows Rika's moves so she knows how to counter them. How exactly Satoko counters Rika's moves isn't clear yet, like whether or not she is using the stolen H173 or not. I suppose during Tataridamashi Satoko doesn't want to live with Teppei but still does simply to defeat Rika. She is maybe able to handle him better now she has all these fragments under her belt.
