It's a complete RPG.
Not excellent, but well-done in most aspects. Has interesting characters and interactions, character quests, a slow but appropriate pacing and built-up and fighting mechanics that require both fighting a bit and managing resources.
Good JP voiceacting, a nice OST, standard Gust graphics and some replayability(at least two playthroughs).

Problems are the noticeable loading times, slow build-up till the climax (though character quests make up for it) and the fact that the game is easy. The difference between a good and a bad player is how fast you finish your battles and tasks.
Also, one of the love interests is YIFF YIFF.

Mana Khemia is the first in the Atelier series that I really enjoyed. It's pretty easy, but the characters evolve a lot better in most RPGs as you go, and almost every skill remains viable through the entire game, so it feels like you're really broadening your options instead of just replacing Fire with Fiaraga and shit.
