Disregarding rage quiters for a second here I seem to have serious connection problems with tenhou. And there is nothing more frustrating than to get disconnected in the middle of the game. Especially when you have a good hand or get stuck in furiten and return only to see you just discarded the winning tile.

Not the same guy but I did that with better than expected results. Yes it came with the square type of Haku but it also came with 4 spare blank tiles which are a perfect replacement. No red fives isn't that much of a problem since I enjoy nashi more though the lack of point sticks is kind of frustrating and I'm still pondering what to use for those. Oh and it also came with a nice wind dice to make the picking of the dealer easier.

The only real problem I have though is that I have no bros to play it with. Only gave learning material to 2 bros but I can't even drag them to tenhou. Only thing everyone here knows how to play is GO.

"Minna no Mahjong" is a very good choice for the DS. The gameplay and graphics are so very basic that games go very fast, which is good. You can also easily tweak the rules and such.
