Uninterested in them, probably. She's at that point in part because she discarded that past. Bernkastel could spend time with Hinamizawa friends, but ultimately chooses not to anymore. I don't think their meta versions would be enough to change that, it's a done world for her If she thinks someone made that happen she'd probably feel enraged at some perceived attempted humiliation.

Today's episode has finished airing.

The gang go to uncle Yoshiroh's shop where that stupid fucking frog doll is. They start playing Mahjong and Oishi appears to impress them with his hand making skills. Akasaka appears telling Rika that she's here for her and she thinks this world now has hope.

IMMEDIATELY cut to Rika being stabbed to death in her house by an L5 Akasaka, who then sets the place on fire with gasoline. Rika makes a "4" with her hand.

Next scene is Akane decapitating Mion with a sword at the Sonozaki state. She finds Rika alive and proceeds to decapitate her too, right before that Rika makes a "3" with her hand.

After that Kimiyoshi is dragging a tied up Rika through the mud and into the swamp, where he throws her down the river with a stone. Rika makes a "2" while she drowns.

Finally Keiichi has just finished murdering everyone in Angel Mort except for Rena, who tries to snap him out of it but he just pulverizes her skull. Then Rika activates her sharingan and tells him that what he wants is inside her head, and he then proceeds to smash it. Rika makes a "1" right before she dies.

The problem Gou has is that breaking through the loops to Rika's good future is the central problem, but(until this arc) it hasn't ever been the focus. So people are waiting for more info on that, but instead all we get are sort of alright arcs and literally just Minagoroshi with a wOaH hOw UnExPeCtEd twist ending without developing the main plot. So it feels like a waste of time because of how slow it's been. The reason why Rika is never the protagonist of an arc until the last two in the original is because those arcs would have had this problem.

If they're there to develop the plot, they haven't yet, and that's the problem I have. What happens in this episode does develop the plot, in the sense that it confirms to Rika that what she tried in the past won't work this time under any circumstances. But we don't learn anything new about Rena, whichever twin did the killing in Watadamashi, or Ooishi from the other arcs. Nothing is developed about Hinamizawa that we didn't already know, and nothing is progressed towards getting Rika a future she's happy with(at least so far). Again, maybe it's all Ryukishi's master plan and the other half of the anime will bring it all together, but that hasn't been released yet, so how could I say that that's what will happen?

Look at the original, though. Takano is the overarching culprit, but individual arcs usually follow the culprit of that individual arc. Then, when it shifts to Rika, the original starts wrapping up loose ends and pursuing the real culprit(Takano). The people who are culprits in the original arcs get development as people in those arcs that directly plays into them being culprits, and overcome it in ways that play into how they beat Takano. But with this, we already know what's up with Rena and the twins, and nothing new was added to that. We already know what's up with Ooishi, and it seemingly played no role in him going L5 since he acted the acts same as he had in Minagoroshi up until he went L5. So, it feels like the first three arcs of Gou were a waste of time, and this arc is just like how many ways can we kill Rika. It just all feels like a waste of time rather than a worthwhile sequel to the original.

You don't get it at all. It literally doesn't matter who did the killings in Gou. This episode proved that every single character can and will go L5 to kill Rika. Keiichi even killed her on the 13th, which is long before Watanagashi. The mystery is not about who did the killings, it's about how Rika can possibly escape her fate or whether she can do it at all.
I find that far more interesting than stupid arguments like "It's Mion! No it's Shion!".

How? This series would explain how she changed from her last appearance in Higurashi to how she is in Umineko. Also how she met Lambda and Featherine and moved on from messing with the Higurashi fragments to messing up other places over 1000 years.

I believe Featherine is a 5th dimensional being of the same race as Hanyuu's clan. She found out about their struggle against Lambda's protege and how Rika spawned a witch, so she decided to turn this witch into one of her mikos but wanted to test her beforehand. So she trapped her in yet another "game" taking place across multiple Higurashi fragments, altering her memories to make her believe she's Rika and her happy ending got ruined. The Matsuribayashi world and characters are unaffected by any of this, including Rika.

This will all end with Lambda revealing she had made Satoko her new "piece" for this game (in metaphorical terms as she's really a human unlike the Umineko pieces). This explains her more mature and sneaky behavior in Gou. Featherine also prevented Hanyuu from interfering (she's just a child ayy and Featherine is a several dozens of thousands of years older ayy). This is why Hanyuu couldn't tell ""Rika"" anything about this new loop or why she can't be with her.

Satoko is most likely the culprit in some way, but her body is being used by Lambda as a vessel. This is all a big test to see if Bern has what it takes to be a cruel witch and also leave Hinamizawa behind. She's been fucking with the Hinamizawa fragments and creating bizarre scenarios for several centuries after the end of Matsuribayashi (this is directly shown in the VN itself). They want her to move on from that, so first they need her to get fed up with her shitty schizo friends and despise the mere idea of being in that village. Also, Lambda possessing Bern's 6th grade loli crush makes sense. It's a trick to become her new lover and also explains why Lambda acts like Satoko in Umineko.

So technically Higurashi Bern wasn't a full witch yet, only an amalgamation of meta-Rikas with some control over fragments due to Hanyuu's power. No other human could've become a pseudo witch like this without help. She came into existence because Hanyuu (a meta ayy) messed with the 5th dimension trying to help Rika.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that this isn't the Rika we know at all. It's Bern trapped in the body of a random Rika with altered memories to make her think she's Matsuribayashi Rika.

So the Rika from the original VN was last seen in Saikoroshi. This Rika is Bernkastel being subjected to a fucked up game to break her and make her into a fitting miko for Featherine and lead up to her appearance in Umineko. It does't matter what Rika does with her life because this isn't Rika.

The entire world of Gou, while real in the sense that they are Hinamizawa fragments, doesn't matter at all in the end. Because if my theory is correct, Bernkastel will snap out of it after solving the game somehow, remember who she is and willingly go along with Lambda while holding a grudge against Featherine. What happens to her Rika vessel in the final Hou fragment doesn't matter from her perspective, that's not the world Bern will be living in.

Remember that after Matsuribayashi Rika and Hanyuu are not the only ones capable of traveling between fragments. And Rika literally decides to stop using those powers and STAY DEAD if something happens to her again, like any normal person could die in an accident or something. Why would Rika suddenly change her opinion in Gou?

This is why I believe Gou is merely a side adventure of Bern's orchestrated by Lambda and Featherine to break her even more and make her into an official witch.

It makes this even more realistic because Frederica stays in Higurashi obsessed with fanfiction kakeras after everything has been solved already even if doesn't have to do with her, like stalking on Miyoko and changing details about Miyoko background to see the end results and literally writing poetry about it. This makes sense for Featherine or even better the patron Lambdadelta cringe at the sight of the obsession of Frederica with her own piece and not moving on.

This begs the question of what is the goal of the game. The goal Hanyuu set for her original struggle was to have Rika live happily without any bad shit happening to anyone, but she gave up halfway through and was content with Rika being trapped in a maze for 100 years until she finally got Hanyuu to cooperate and finish what she started.

This is from Saikoroshi. Many people never read it despite it being the epilogue to the whole story, so they are discussing Hou while lacking the context of what happened at the end of Higurashi.

I've even seen several anons in these threads admitting to never read it while they discuss Hou and get into heated arguments about theories and shit. I'm not saying the Bern theory is right, but those people are missing a crucial part of the story and can't theorize legitimately about Rika being or not being Rika, or even Hanyuu's nature.

Watching them side by side, it feels to me that they were trying to recreate this OP, with some differences.
The serious shots of Rika's determined friends are replaced by murderous ones, with their weapons being prominently featured.
Rika still has her sequence running, but this time she finds outstretched hands reaching inside her eyes.
Instead of reaching the miracle kakera and taking hold of it on the end, she reaches out for the piece of hanyuu's sword, to end her own life.
It's like higurashi, yet it is not. It's as though this is a careful recreation, but the spirit of higurashi has been (probably intentionally) twisted and tainted.
I'll say that the mysterious girl removing her necktie in the new OP suspiciously reminds me of the kid Takano shot in the old one.
In the secret ending in matsuribayashi, Bernkastel does save Takano's family in a whim, doesn't she?
I wouldn't mind it if Takano reached out to help her or something along those lines like other anons are guessing at, but if it doesn't happen and it's something else I'll be happy too.

It's impossible because Takano can only exist as a character if her parents die. Just like angsty Ange can only exist if Rokkenjima blows up. If that doesn't happen, she turns into a completely different character.

Why would Tanashi Miyoko change her name to Takano Miyo and be interested in parasites if her parents are alive and she was never adopted by Takano?

The culprit CANNOT be Takano anymore and this episode proves it. That is because as >>32208297 pointed out, everyone who Rika turns to suddenly becomes L5. This is extremely inconsistant with Takano being the culprit, who always picks between a small number of people which we saw in the original VN. This means whoever it is must be someone very close to Rika that is not K1, Rena, the Sonozakis, or anyone who has been shown to have killed someone else thus far (like Ooishi). Satoko is suspicious because of the way Tataridamashi ended and living with Rika means she would almost certainly know who Rika has turned to for protection (Akasaka, the Sonozakis, Kimiyoshi, and finally K1), though I can't exactly say this is "proof" she is the culprit (assuming what we've been shown so far is even an accurate portrayal of true events).

A Takano with timelooping powers or some other form of supernatural intervention would be able to target whoever Rika's turning to without many problems, as well as teach them about the parasites, poison gas, etc, which we've seen them be aware of.
Those same time loop or supernatural abilities are also an absolute requirement for Satoko as a culprit to work.
So I think it's unfair to say Satoko works but Takano doesn't, though I personally don't think it's either.
