For beginners
Everything you need to know about tenhou itself can be found here http://arcturus.su/tenhou/

Explanations for the tiles, rules, scoring etc can be found here:

Games to test your Knowledge:

http://arcturus.su/tenhou/scorequiz/yaku.html
http://arcturus.su/tenhou/scorequiz/

Please read 2-3 sites before playing and even then try the singleplayer games first.
Playing without knowing what you do is not only frustrating for yourself but also for your opponents, a player that left because he couldn't ron for his no Yaku hand or because someone ron'd his discard just kills the whole fun for everyone.

Usually, a game lasts around 30 minutes, so please, if you're not going to stay until the
end, respect the other players and don't join a new game.

Also keep in mind that Mahjong is more a game of "not losing" than straightforward winning.
Furthermore you play with 3 other people and luck plays a big part in it, so dont expect to
win more than 1 out 4 games, especially not as a beginner.

If you read some of the linked sites and still have questions feel free to ask.

My first nashi game. I practically won the game with this hand and then making yaku pon whenever I got the chance to keep my lead.

Seriously, I dont find it any different compare to red nashi. Just that what hand people are making is way more obvious. At least in red nashi, any shitty hand can be a monster hand due to red five and other stuff.
And it is certainly more exciting since it is easier to make a comeback hand in ari red. Well everyone has their own preference I guess.

My advice is to those who have no idea what they are doing and just queue in the top games for the hell of it. People get frustrated when they can not find a game in 7447, so random people queuing in nashi (a widely unpopular gametype) get annoyed.

>You my friend are an idiot.
You are quite rude by the way.

>Now if you want to take the easy way out [...]
Didn't you notice I was saying how I feel there is not a very big difference?

>and play ari red
Fair point, it's easier to get big hands.

>or even worse red fast
I don't get this point. I and others play fast because slow players are boring. (If anything, a lower time limit makes you work harder).

>or 3p [...] But I personally enjoy having to work a bit harder for my yaku. So cut the my opinion > your opinion bullshit already.
Now who is dancing on the greater-than-thou ground?

Oh, and by the way, yaku is not synonymous to han. There is quite a big difference.

Not in the mood to make a long post at this hour so I'll keep it short. First we've already been through why it's not that bright of an idea to go for fast red and 3p and I will not debate it again. Second of all I did not call you an idiot because of where you enjoy playing. Instead I called you an idiot for pointing out useless obvious things, using what looks like emoticon codes, and finally because just like in your latest post, you acted like a faggot towards anyone who won't play ari red like you instead. Hence the DURRHURR my opinion > your opinion bullshit I mentioned earlier.
