I get my moral and character guidance from VNs and manga. I try my best to imitate figures I idolize in these fictional works and better my life. Is this a bad thing?

Good luck, Archer.

MIND OF STEEL.

I do the same thing.
I idolize Kotomine.
Is this bad?

I don't know who should feel bad you for being pathetic enough to idolize fictional characters are the people in your immediate vicinity for being pathetic enough not to provide a good role model for you.

Either way I hope you understand that these people are not real and their lofty ideals are useless in the real world.

Real people don't make good role models.

You do realize that some VNs (Fate stay for example) have characters that criticize selflessness and lofty ideals?

Take archer for example. "drown in your ideals and die" bit taught me to stop being stupidly sweet and the hypocrisy of being selfless.

I do the same OP, except with rap music.

Not necessarily. Do whatever you want, anon. Although their personalities may seem nice and all, they are not without their flaws. You need to realize the difference between idealism and reality, however. An ideal is an ideal. It is not real. If you try to make it real as you imagine it, you will suffer. You will probably make others around you suffer as well.

Don't be a dumbfuck like Emiya Shirou, 'kay?

but every route in the game has at least one scene that is about proving archer wrong. UBW is almost entirely about Archer being a big baby.

Shiro took survivor's guilt to a whole new level. Don't copy him.

>> No.3146868

the question you should be asking is whether or not your parents should be ashamed that you're getting your morals from fictional characters

No, it's a good thing. I get my ideals from that sorta stuff as well.

Now I think you're the one confusing reality and fiction. Real life isn't that melodramatic.

>> No.3147054

It's no different from idolizing someone in a book, which people have been doing for centuries. Just don't pick someone stupid.
