In a west African story of creation one of the Gods living in the sky came down with a fowl, a snail shell full of sand and a palm tree seed.

He poured sand on the waters of the world and commanded the chicken to spread it out. The sand was magic and anywhere it touched it created land. The chicken being stupid didn't spread it evenly so that is why some places have mountains and hills while some places are flat.

What does this have to do with Touhou? Well in some variations of the story the chicken had three legs. So in an african myth of creation utsuho helped create the world.
