Are sumo wrestlers seen as sex symbols in Japan? From what I hear, yes. But I'd like to know from the experts.

I figure you guys know a lot more about Japanese culture than anybody else on 4chan. And this is Japan/General, so this is the most appropriate place to ask.

I'd also like to add to my OP by saying that I've heard sumo wrestlers are respected and seen as celebrities. I was wondering if this meant they also are seen as sex symbols. It makes sense, but I've actually never seen sumo wrestlers with sexy Japanese girls on their arms. Thus, I asked the question to /jp/.

I am all for a variety of threads here, honestly, but you should take a look around this board and ask yourself how much "Japanese culture" the people here seem to be familiar with. I certainly don't have an answer, and I doubt that most other posters here do. This thread belongs here in the most technical sense of the rules, but I wouldn't expect a good answer because, well, we usually don't have one for questions like this.
