Hello /jp/, here's a modified version of Witch Hunt's translation of Umineko. It's basically oba-san -> aunt and similar things through find/replace; see readme for details.

Some things to note:

Scene selection doesn't work, and the beginning of Ep1 up to when the boat arrives at the island has slightly bad formatting; if you just want to see what it's like I'd suggest another Episode. These issues are from character encoding, I think, maybe from when I extracted the script from nscript.dat (I knew nothing about onscripter when I did this).

Finally, save files made with this version don't work with the original and vice versa.

I didn't take out every single honorifc for just that reason. Specifically, when people use "nee-san" by itself, I leave it alone, since English speakers don't go around talking to Sister and Brother. Here, I'll just copy the relevant part of the readme:

Things that are changed:
oba-san/oji-san -> Aunt/Uncle
George-aniki -> George
<name> nee-san -> <name>
<name>-san -> <name> (when I felt it was appropriate, such as with Genji)
-kun honorific completely gone
-chan honorific almost completely gone
Things not changed:
When "nee-san," "aniki" etc is used without a name I left it alone, mainly because it wasn't auto-replaceable (too much context needed) and "Brother" and "Sister" would sound awkward.
-sama left alone
Things like "Kanon-kuuuuuuuuuuun" are unchanged because I was too lazy to use something that accepts regular expressions.

With all due respect, the writing is clear enough to understand their relationship after a few lines exchanged in-between. They clearly mention exact blood ties in the start, and how they regard each other is obvious.
There are so many more things then honorifics that help you understand that.
Sticking a -san does not actually determine everything.

It is true that you get used to it, but the phrase "get used to it" tends to imply that something is bad. Of the little bit of this version that I read I enjoyed it much more, but that's because when I first started reading Umineko I found all the honorifics shit really annoying. I grew up with Fansubs and Subtitles. When i watch my anime or play some VN and it isn't there it feels unnatural for me.
That doesn't mean that i go around and say kawii and whatever and dream to be a japanese and marry a japanese woman. I don't even talk about such things in life because that is my hobby only.

Also, the patch is completely pointless, /jp/-8-hour-a-day NEET here. Did you even get Witch-Hunt's permission? Also, the honorifics (in places) give hints to the plot like the Virgilia thing already mentioned. It kind of detracts from the experience and all you've really done is use find and replace, sort of like speeding up a song in audacity and touting it as a remix.

Find/replace? Really?

I appreciate the sentiment but the execution is halfassed, just as we'd expect from anonymous. While there are lots of things that could stand to be changed with WH's translation this would require actually reading through both the Japanese and English text and making corrections where necessary. Which would require actual effort. Which is hard. So no noone here is going to do it.

1) no fucking kidding. From what I managed to understand about it, it's just xoring everything with a constant... that can't be right though; there would be no possible reason for it to take that long if that were true.

2) I have no idea how onscripter works, and it could very well be that it's just the same character encoding issues that's screwing everything else up. However, my guess is that the way they do the saves is by just recording the offset into the script file to start at, considering that "nassembly" would have been a much more fitting name.

But yeah, I still know next to nothing about the engine, so please correct any incorrect assumptions I made.
