hey /jp/,
I recently decided to finally try a Touhou game...but since there are about 12 of them, and i'm completely inexperienced with this kind of game, I was wondering if you would have any suggestions on which one to try first?

Also pic related; I heard she was the strongest girl.

Play SA first, then one of the other windows games of your choice.

Don't bother with any of the others, since SA is currently the best, and the others are just slow moving bullet circle patterns for 99% of the spell cards (so you only need to play one to play them all).

Start with either 6 or 7, since they're more straightforward than the later ones. I'd recommend 6, i think it encourages you to fly around more and not just stay in a small area in the center of the screen, slowly bobbing and weaving in between bullets by tapping left and right

If you don't play EoSD (6) before the newer games, it will look ugly.
You can play this "strongest girl" in PoFV (9). She also appears in 6, 7 and 9.5
Just play one game, become frustrated, switch to the other. Then try to actively beat a game.
Don't suck.

if you know you'll stick with touhou through thick and thin, go with EoSD and play 'em in order. You don't have fancy hitboxes or shit, but it's simple relative to the others. IN is great to get you into the games, but don't get too far into it before you learn how to actually bomb, none of that last spell shit. I have had the most difficult fucking time trying to 1cc PCB, so I don't know why everyone recommends it.

Technically the noun isn't feminine, because English has no concept of grammatical gender. And even in languages which do have it, the grammatical gender isn't dependent on the gender of the thing itself (e.g. in German, "nephew" is the feminine "Neffe").

The music in general isn't great, but I personally love Satori's and Utsuho's themes.

It's the only one I've 1cc'd on Hard, and it has a pretty easy Extra stage. It's also the game I've played the most, so that might be why I suck at the others so much.

Also SA has the most "trick spellcards" in the whole series (even more than Suwako). As long as you don't play with Aya, Alice or Suika (wide-spread shots, randomly aimed, bullshit 2 directions), Parsee and Orin will have some really easy cards. The life system rewards bombing too much. The bombing system does too. Yuugi's, Koishi's and Sanae's laser attacks don't force to to move at all (one move for Koishi).
