Yakuza.

Any experiences with them?

When I was working part time in Japan at a convenient store (Sankus), there were some yakuza going about one day. There was some kind of festival going on near the station so quite a few of them came in. One of the yakuzas came in to buy vanilla ice cream. I should have noticed that it wasn't cold by touching the container, but popped it in the machine to swirl anyway.

Gave the yakuza gentleman temperate ice cream for 120 yen and he came back 3 minutes later saying it was already melting. It was then that my co-worker had returned and notified us that the freezer was in error. We refunded it of course, but he gave off a feint stare before exiting the building. I kind of worried.

I stayed in the Aomori region during the summer where my Aunt was teaching English at several high schools.

My aunt's room mate showed me around town when some guys started following us. My aunt's room mate told me they were Yakuza (don't know if she was lying or not, but I didn't know) and we tried to ignore them until they finally caught up to us and started haggling us.

Being of Filipino descent, they automatically knew I wasn't from around the area and started giving me more shit. When they realized I was from America, they laughed and asked me about the place where I lived.

To cut a long story short, We eventually got drunk at some restaurant, ended up trashing the place, and I made some Jap friends that I visit every time I go to Japan to visit my aunt.

Only time when I was sure I had dealings with yakuza is when I was buying some weed during my time on JET. Not a easy task, ended up going toa friend of a friend of a friend X 20 untill I finnaly met some guy who said he could help me.

Well I didnt know what I was getting into before he draged me down a alley to some bar. He walks in with me and the whole place just stops and stares, and considering the kind of people that were there I thought I was dead. We walk through the bar and into the back, where a couple of older guys are sitting around watching tv.

Well I didnt get shot in the head thankfully. They were verry scarry until they relized I was canadian not american, after that we kind of chatted about where I was from and how much cheaper and better the weed was. After that my friend and myself left and never went back, apperently he was told they would beat the shit out of him if he brought another forginer there, lol.
