But the OVA is pretty shitty (I'm not even sure it is an improvement over the manga). The TV series is far better. They shouldn't have ended it after Kyoto though... well, I guess the last arc in the manga does suck.

Nah I pulled this one a acquaintance once. He thought it would be violent and grim like the OVA and was very disapointed when I finally explained to him that the original series was somewhat light-hearted and comedic. I then repeated this on someone else and if anything, the shift from grim to XD produced memorable reaction faces.
