Hey /jp/ members living in Tokyo (or who know the area pretty well)

I have a choice between living in the Ota-ku district or in Jiyugaoka in Meguro. Which is the better option? Are they both great, do they both suck, or is one obviously a better choice. I have to travel by train for an hour to my college no matter which choice I pick so I want a district that is fun or close to lots of fun things to do. I've only been to Tokyo for about 4 hours so I don't know it very well.

Seriously though, even people who've lived in Tokyo for an extended period of time may not know about the wards outside the Yamanote-sen, which you have little reason to visit except when you live there.

From what I've heard, though, Meguro-ku is presumably the better option (a friend used to live there and it was a nice neighborhood), and it's closer from the action.
