if it really is a hemrrhoid, the best thing you can do for it is give yourself a tap-water enema. I know that's not what you want to hear, but I'm being dead serious.
Failing that, take some stool softener and drink as much water as you can for a couple days.
Most hemorrhoids are caused by intestinal blockage. Basically, feces builds up and presses on the muscles of the anus in a weird way from the inside, which causes irritation that manifests itself as a hemorhoid. Whatever you decide to do, you should do something about it, as just sitting in front of the computer trying to numb it out all day could aggrevate the siutation into something you really don't want.

An abscess is the Black Hole of pimples. The aseptic goo inside hhas hardened, and your body has built something like a shell around it.
Lancing it entails slicing it open to relieve the pus build up. It hurts a lot more once it becomes an abscess.
