We should create our own and call it BULLET RACING or CURTAIN FIRE RACING GAME. Players all spew bullets from behind their vehicles as they move (only when they're moving) and items could extra bombs or extra brief bursts of firepower and then like Mario Kart: Double Dash, you have two characters driving at any one time and you can swap from human mode to youkai mode just by switching drivers. And maybe also include an option for two humans in the car or two youkai in the car.

Hah. This trailer makes me look forward to the actual release (if it happens at all).
I also love the trailer music.

I approve. Come back with a working proof of concept and I'll arrange for funding.
I'm fucking dead serious.

>Doujin

And this where our standards must be set lower than usual. If this game was made by, I dunno, Nintendo for the Wii, I would call it a shitfest.

But since this seems to be a one man army, we must forgive.

>>2592103
I'm pretty sure ZUN being a "one man army" is not the standard.

But yeah, standards shouldn't be too high for doujin games. They're not necessarily bad, but a lot of the ones I have are just "oh, this is kinda cool"; worth playing a few times but you won't keep them for long.

Well, I'm a CS major with nothing to do over the summer. I guess I now have a project to hack on for the next three months. If I actually have something tangible, I'll post an update. For now, I'm packing.

Unless you're good with graphics and sounds (e.g. game stuff beyond programming), I highly recommend you try to get some people to help you.

Who needs graphics. Everybody can be squares.
People will just hold you back.

Somehow I get the feeling that's not a great idea
Good people won't.
Or you could try pure volunteer work. I'm hoping I'll be able to get some stuff just by posting "hey, I'm making a game and I need someone who can draw sprites and world tiles"

The people around hear are really pretentious in pretending they're smarter than others and rarely help out unless it gets them a nice entry on their resumes for their applications to Google (apparently it's the COOL place to work). I'll ask around if I need to but I doubt I'll get any.

Coincidentally, I'm taking a course on computer graphics in the fall and I just started going over the course material last week (because it's a project course and I want to stay ahead when coursework builds up) so I guess I can say this will be a learning experience. I'll probably be working with pixels until I get the game engines running (no pun intended).

Unless by ``good with graphics and sound'' you meant drawing the art and composing music. In that case, of course I'll ask around...but probably after I get the basics working.

That is what I meant because I assumed that you'd already know how to draw shit onto the screen if you're going to try to program a game. Well, since it'd be helpful for your coursework you'll probably have more motivation to learn this shit.

I haven't noticed anything like that. Maybe it's just because I don't go on /prog/

If you need an artist for char sprites just make a thread in /jp/
