Anonymous stood on the shore of the Scarlet Devil Lake, looking towards the horizon and beyond, deep in thought. A gentle breeze filled with flower petals caressed his face, as well as those he had come to call friends over these past five days. Meiling, the ever vigilant gate guard, Sakuya, the perfect maid, Cirno, the childish ice fairy, Keine, the scholar and protector of all humanity. Everyone had felt it, even the spirit of the lake herself, who had patiently waited for her love to return.

"I've spoken with Remilia. She says that she'll protect the Scarlet Devil Lake for as long as she lives, you have her word."

"Thank you, Anonymous. Now, even when I am gone, the lake will continue to thrive. The countryside and all the creatures that dwell in it depend upon it's waters."

"That's right. But everything will be fine now... Everything..."

"Yes... But I am... A bit tired..."

"Rest, then, my love. I will wait for you, so... Sleep as long as you like. I'll make you eggs for breakfast."

"I... Think I'd like that... Anonymous..."

The spirit closes her eyes, her radiant smile fading with the setting sun.

It is said that Anonymous shed a single tear. Every day, for the rest of his life, albeit the brief existence of a human, he would awaken at first light, prepare breakfast for two, and dine on the shores of the Scarlet Devil Lake.

The only good end is when I drop the mother of all bombs into the motherfucking lake leaving nothing behind but a cloud of hot vapor and a scorching crater full of glass. May nothing ever grow upon the surface of crater for at least a thousand years, and those who remember it will shed scalding tears that burn and mutilate their faces. Let the spirits of the lake be forever cursed to eat the flesh of their own children as they writhe in cages of burning steel.

It was another peaceful and bright day at the gates of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The prudent door guard Chinese girl Hong Meiling now sat lazily in front of the vampire manor as if waiting for someone to come up to her and greet her with a affectionate smile.

Since the day they first met, Meiling knew that this person was different from the other human intruders. Usually after discovering that the human looking guard is in fact a youkai, they would run away in panic fearing for their lives. The kind behavior always made Meiling's heart ache. The Mansion doesn't get many visitors per year. When your life span is a couple of times longer than that of a human, the feeling of loneliness may engulf your whole being.

The human that showed up with Cirno that day however was different from other visitors. He was the first human visitor (not counting the black-white witch or the red-white miko) Meiling let through in many years. On the same day she thought if it was really okay to let a human with no means to defend himself enter the mansion. The inhabitants were all creatures of supreme power that could easily crush and mutilate a whole human village.

Long hours passed since the human had entered the vampire dwelling and Meiling had began to lose that she'll ever see him again. Deep inside she blamed herself for it.

"What was I even thinking back then? I should know that no mortal human can survive in the Mansion unless it's Oujou-sama's special guest."

To her surprise that evening the same human came out running from the mansion. Strong feelings of happiness and joy came down crushing on the Chinese gate guard. If something ever happened to the person she let through, she could never forgive herself as a guard and as a youkai.

What surprised Meiling even more that night was the fresh platter of cooked eggs he brought with himself. This "intruder" was really something else from the other humans she had met throughout the years.

On the very same night the humans explained in all detail what had happened inside the Mansion. Meeting Patchouli's familiar devil, encountering the Head Maid Sakuya and even meeting the two mistresses, Remilia and Flandre Scarlet. Meiling was amazed that the very same person she let it is standing in front of her after coming in contact with Flandre Scarlet, a being of pure destruction and death.

The human kept on talking and as more words left his lips, the more fascinating he seemed to the red haired youkai girl.

What Meiling understood from the whole situation is that the visitor became a servant or rather a plaything for the younger mistress. She knew that sooner or later Flandre will get bored with her new "toy" and "brake it" as she did with all her other possessions. However there was little a gate guard like her could do to help him out out his difficult situation. All she could think of now is giving him tips on how not to make anyone in the Mansion angry, since that would lead to a certain a cruel death by various means.

Even though the human just faced a life and death situation he didn't seem the least bit shaken or nervous. After he had finished telling Meiling and Cirno his story he kindly asked the gate guard how the rest of her day was and ran back inside the Mansion.

After brief conversation with her neighbor Cirno, the ice fairy left and Meiling was left all by herself in front of the gates. She picked up the plate with the already cold meal, sat down and began to eat slowly.

"I must have caught a cold" said Meiling. "I've never felt this warm before" she continued to eat as her cheeks were getting red.

As Meiling sat there in the cold finishing her meal, she heard the door flung open behind her, followed by the loud acclaim-
"FUCK THIS! I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS!"
Before she could react, the human shot past her and dove straight into the lake.
Speechless, Meiling fell to her knees and wept.
