Why do so many people think Kinzo planned to kill the Italians and treat it as canon, even though it's explicitly shown that this is all Yasu's interpretation of the events and she was never there to witness it? Believing it means destroying the whole concept of the theatergoing authority (which isn't only used by will but also Battler, Lambda, Bern, Featherine and even Bernkastel in Higurashi). It also means that Kinzo has actually deluded himself to the point of completely altering his own memories, which is just absurd, and he has no reason to lie to himself anyway. It would also mean that Yasu/Clair somehow knows the objective truth about every single fact in the universe. Also, those red flashbacks are shown to no one, Ange was already dead. They only came out when Clair was cut down, to show us "her truth", what she believed happened.

Why do people treat the happy Kinzo from EP8 as an obvious lie and don't even consider the possibility of it being the truth? Battler admits that the Halloween party was a fantasy he made up and everyone's personalities were exaggerated, but when it comes to KINZO alone he is adamant that this is more or less how he behaved in private with his family, back when Battler was a young kid.

First of all, Will's authority allowed him to experience Kinzo's memories directly. That's what that power does and we see it multiple times in EP6, EP7, EP8 and even Higurashi. Unless Kinzo was somehow completely brainwashed and delusional to a ridiculous degree, he wouldn't be able to have fake memories of the events. His story was the truth as he remembers it.

The scenes that appear when Bern forces "the truth" out of Beato's guts are not meant to be real truth. Those scenes are the "truth" for Beato. That's why she claimed in EP3 that Kinzo had forced the first Beatrice to be his waifu until she ended up killing herself. It's not true, but that's what Beato believes.

Yasu can't possibly know what really happened in Kinzo's past, so that scene is not meant to be some sort of revelation. That scene reveals her motivations and her beliefs. She simply jumped to conclusions when she found all the skeletons and Genji didn't know the real truth either.

You could argue that it's left to the reader's interpretation, even though I don't think that's the case. But a lot of people seem to treat it as a FACT revealed by the game.

Actually, Ooishi's older brother was Hideyoshi's dad, who died in his 40s. Hideyoshi inherited the yellow jacket of inceldom from his uncle when he retired back in 1983, but he was already married to Eva and passed it down to his son.

I'm also playing TRT, about like halfway through the second School Love chapter, and honestly I don't really agree at all. It largely is a dumb meme, but you can't deny that r07 excels at drawing expressions, the most important aspect of sprites in a visual novel. The filter effects on the photographs also really helps build atmosphere in relevant scenes. Outside of those two areas, ps3 does everything else better or at least just as good--except for a few terrible cgs.

The whole point of the VN is that you figure things out on your own and the story never explicitly tells you anything. You have to search for the heart, try to understand the characters and figure out everything, just like Will did. That's why he gave his answers using metaphors and shit.

The manga is good, but it's the alternative version that spoonfeeds everything to you. It's the equivalent of someone tearing out Beato's guts and serving them to you, without any thinking required from you. I'm glad it exists so people won't call Ryu a hack and sabotage his works, but it kinda renders the message of the story pointless since you are told everything directly without having to truly understand the culprit first.

The whole point of Umineko is figuring out the why dunnit on your own and using that to figure out everything else. Simply being told is not the same. You are supposed to search for Beato's heart using the small hints that were scattered in these tales. Someone who doesn't understand the character's mindset would never find it, that's the point. It's the exact opposite of Higurashi telling you everything about the culprit and having readers decide if they sympathize with them or not.

For the most part I agree, it doesn't need to be spelled out, it's already all there in the vn. Which is fine, better even, except for the fact that so many people are either too retarded to see it or trying to cope by bullshitting their way around it all. Outside of spelling things out, the manga did come with some improved direction to make it overall more enjoyable, that's mainly what I'd have liked to see in Saku--also some extra stuff that fills in unnecessary gaps that people who deny the manga are still trying to fill (particularly those related to Tohya).

when I first read Umineko I had no idea about the whole Shannon=Kanon=Beatrice shit even after I finished reading episode 7. I basically googled the spoilers and that's how I found out. When I was reading it at the time I was pretty annoyed, but now I think the way R07 handles the culprit reveal is one of the most kino things he ever did.

The manga kinda ruins that factor of coming up with interpretations yourself, but I think the way episode 8 is handled thematically is more tighter in the manga than it was in the VN. I mean, yeah R07 could probably go back and edit the episode 8 VN but at the same time it wouldn't really matter as not many people would care. The people who care about Umineko in 2020 would have already read the episode 8 manga.

Sprites: While the quality of r07's sprites are pretty low, he excels at drawing expressions--the most important aspect of sprites. PS3 sprites can't even begin to compare in that regard. There's also a particular charm you begin to appreciate about them.

CGs: They are sometimes great, overall a nice addition, but there are a few instances where they push for the over-the-top cringe inducing scary face when it should just be subtly creepy. For Higurashi, there are a few that have terrible perspective and proportions as well.

Backgrounds: Both have their positives and shortcomings. The PS3 sprites are best at reinforcing the light-hearted SoL scenes making the contrast with the dark material even more prominent; meanwhile, r07's filtered photographs do wonders for the atmospheric and serious scenes as well as the overall mood.

Voices: I don't see a problem with them, they don't hurt or elevate the experience. I prefer playing with them. Some say they hate the VAs or find the voices annoying, so it's up to you. Lip-syncing can be turned off in settings.

Text Box: Some like to say that it ruins r07's prose somehow and that having a paragraph of text sitting above what you're currently reading is important. Others say that people miss it when a sprite changes its expression because you dont see the text disappearing for a split second to tell you when it happens--which is bullshit. Every person reading a visual novel knows that a sprite's expression will change whenever they hit enter or click the mouse, not to mention they'll see it change while reading anyways unless their mind somehow blocks out the entire screen while reading text. ADV comes with the bonus of not darkening the screen to make text easier to read and not covering up the sprites and cluttering your view.

All in all it's literally just up to you. 07th-mod is modular so you can pick and choose. Whatever you find most enjoyable is what's best for you. Decide for yourself.
