I didn't like try to follow Toradora and lurk /a/ last season. It ruined it for me, even though the adaptation wasn't so good but not that bad enough to warrant dropping it.
That's why I don't follow series anymore, /a/ just grinds down every episode, spamming screencaps and going "My waifu!" and "She is a bro!".

Japanese language threads are /lang/. J-dramas are /tv/. I could go through every single thread on /jp/ right now and place them on another board where they'd be ontopic.

Reporting something that isn't bothering you and isn't being spammed just because you don't like it is why no one can take it easy on /jp/ anymore. /jp/ is supposed to be a catch-all board for otaku culture, especially stuff that would be hard to discuss on other boards. The "hurr durr go discuss it in /a/" argument is dumb, would you want to discuss Touhou music with /mu/?

I'm not particularly fond of idol and Kig, but I don't mind their threads at all; they add variety to the board. I'd like to think of /jp/ as a place where you can discuss weeaboo stuff that would just get trolled and flamed by underage, casual fans, but it's impossible because of people like you.

No they are not. At all. They are books with maybe one picture per chapter. Moot was probably under the impression that they were like picture books with a picture every couple of pages, which is why he said they should go in /a/. But they are far closer to being novels than manga. Hell, a lot of "real books" have as many pictures as light novels. Japanese literature threads do not get deleted so just because a book has a few anime-styled drawings does not mean it's /a/ material.

If light novels are /a/ material then so are visual novels. VNs are a lot more like anime or manga than light novels are. And while we're at it lets put Touhou in /a/, because it has more anime-styled drawings than light novels do.
