The purpose of kanji learning (AKA RTK) is not to "learn" japanese its purpose is to make way in your head for the shapes and forms of the characters so you can at least recognize them and form some kind of logical association that makes learning words a bit easier.

If you were presented with things like
اللغة العربية لغة صعبة or ภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาที่ยาก out of the blue your mind would go "WTF dude" because the shapes and forms are completely foreign that's what happens with kanji too and it's actually even worse because compared to those languages the characters have meaning so it's worth knowing the basic meanings.

If you go into KKLC/RTK expecting to "know" japanese after finishing them of course you will be dissapointed,is not the books fault that you're all retards expecting to be N1 after finishing the book.

i don't use eng subs/translations 24/7 like jamal recommends but they really do make sentences comprehensible. i understand why people caution beginners not to use them but they can be really useful. even machine translation. i remember my first 4 months especially that the automatic google/bing translation on textractor was a godsend. i'd get stuck on a grammar point in a sentence even after looking it up on dojg, but then i'd read the machine translation then read the grammar explanation again and it'd make complete sense. obviously you shouldn't rely on them but they're useful tools.

its not really an issue since the english subs are always correctly timed since theyre included in the release and i use alass to retime the jp ones. if audio retiming doesn't work the text retiming always does and it takes like 3 minutes to do for an entire show.

well it's not that the script doesn't work at all there's just two problems with it
1) you can't hold the hotkey to add or remove delay like you can without the script, you have to keep pressing it over and over again to add delay in 100ms increments
2) you can't retime with ctrl+shift+arrow key like this https://streamable.com/jph5m which is very useful when the timing is off by a lot
