Kapoera for example has fancy stuff, and if it hits you- You're pretty much in trouble, but Karate, for example, probably has the strongest basics.

Apparently his TAI CHI style is riddled with XING YI moves, which I've been told is a BATTLEFIELD martial art. Earning a black belt is what all students of martial arts will eventually earn. But in order to be truly versed in fighting you need to use it in actual fight situations. And by that I mean REAL street fights. Not those lame everyday sparring with fellow students, but the real kind of battles that can get you killed.

Sadly, most martial artists have little to no experience regarding real fights. It is not uncommon to hear tales of karate tournament champions owned by street gangsters or boxers killed by burglars. They think they are so hardcore when they break several bricks with one punch, but bricks unlike real people don't fight back.

The whole point of martial arts IS to prove who is the stronger. It's developed so that you can be the one's walking out from a deathmatch instead of the opponent. All the disciplining shit is secondary.

Take Jujitsu instead. It was created because fists are very ineffective against armored Japanese soldiers, so they had to throw them around or hurt their joints. It isn't because some dude wanted to make some workout for his lazy kids.

Martial arts are combat systems, too.

What you probably mean is that Krav Maga is purely a combat system, without the training practices tradition that's an important part of eastern martial arts.

Ideally you learn the basics and train your entire body under some real martial arts system, and then go to a pure combat system like Krav Maga to learn specific techniques for actual (dirty) fighting. They're all complementary. (idort.jpg)
