I like her because I can relate to her, being a loner and a jerk and all.

So then I guess you dislike Yukari and Sakuya then, right?

Remember when Shinki gave her that doll on her birthday and then went alone on a vacation to Gensokyo?

Me too. I hate the stupid "Alice leaks poop" meme.

Do you have a doll that talks to you? I didn't think so.

Nope. Her love is one-sided. Sucks to be her.

Anyway, relating to is a very common way to like a character. That said, I find strange the lack of love that anon has for our local NEET.

My Tickle-Me-Elmo says otherwise.

Canonically, Hourai dolls are hanged, while Shanghai dolls aren't. But that doesn't matter, because all fanartists portray them differently. It's really up to the artist to say which is which.

In a way, Alice as a character is the "mad clockmaker" archetype of Touhou.
All those amazingly beautiful dolls, maybe thousands or millions, each worth a fortune. Failures, all of them, falling just slightly short in her quest for perfection. All except the latest in the line, which is not a failure, but a future failure.

How many Shanghais do you go through in SA? Cannon fodder, all of them.
