1. Father murdered by a totalitarian regime.
2. Underwent brutal training and persoanlity adjustments as a young child.
3. Sent into combat as a child solider programmed to kill with a knife.
4. Got addicted to opium in the war.
5. Went through many bizarre psychological tests including self-humiliation.

All for the sake of producing an outstanding human being with the power of life and death over criminals in a dystopian social system. Filled with self-loathing and deep mental scars that will never go away, he's different from others like him only in that he's managed to hold on to his humanity no matter what they did to him.

In Fate, I thought that Shirou was an incredibly stupid idiot and hated him immensely. I almost dropped the game because of that. But I had been told that the other paths are better, and I decided to endure.

And halfway through UBW I kinda noticed that I don't hate him anymore, and he had grown on me. And I thought it was nice to see a character so mindfucked as him being able to function almost normally.

Why does everyone single out Type-Moon for complaints like this? Oh wait, that's because those are the only games people have actually played.

Seriously, play a game like Do You Like Horny Bunnies?, you play as a trap (not deliberately, its just you are so godammed feminine everyone thinks you are a girl at first.). Play Wanko to Kurasou, where you play a soulless, emotionless husk of a man that is completely indifferent to everything, including sex. Or how about Brass Restoration, where you, upon finding your arm severed, consider that you are a giant robot and fired a Rocket Punch.

The same goes for the "LOL Nasu so awkward" sex scenes in Type-Moon Games, trust me, you can't complain until you have played a game like Bible Black or Discipline. Seriously, There's much worse than "lol mollusks" out there.
