So... /jp/...

I was going to play this visual novel and it was working fine at first. I could hear the birds at the title screen, but then when I started the game the old guy pops up and my speakers go TSSSCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

How do I fix this?

Reinstall the game under Japanese locale, and play it the same way or with AppLocale. You'll miss a lot of BGMs/SFXs if you don't.

I'm playing under linux though.

The one that plays after the scene with the old guys.

The game is running perfectly aside from the sound.

Sounds like you don't got the right ONScripter version.

Which version am I supposed to use? I compiled the newest one on http://dev.haeleth.net/onscripter.shtml

If it's just the sound, it sounds like the problem you get when installing it on xp/vista in english(US) unicode settings...

check the size of the sound folders, do they match:
BGM -- 558,383,104 bytes
ME -- 105,791,488 bytes
SE -- 77,717,504 bytes
sys_se -- 33,292,288 bytes

Start -> Run -> dxdiag
Sound tab
Accelerate it!

>>2350044
My files are actually bigger, but I think that might have something to do with me using ext3. I made sure to mount the ISO with UTF8 enabled so I doubt it's a problem with the filenames, they did show up in Japanese.

>>2350070
Oh, running under Linux then? The current version of ONScripter available on that site is actually a bit dated. You'd be better off playing with the Windows ONScripter under Wine.

>> No.2350092

>>2349994
I'd re-copy your music to the BGM folder, and then run Onscripter from the patch in Applocale.

Since I didn't know, I'm going to tell you how to fully "install" the entire BGM, feel free to ignore this.

Mount the CD, My computer->Right click the mounted CD and select "Explore" there should be a folder called BGM, take the contents and copy them into the BGM folder that was installed with the game.

I'm running this on my PS3, I don't have that option. I did manage to get one VN to play at an acceptable pace (Jouka no Monshou) under XP in qemu, but I doubt I could pull it off with Umineko.
