People probably liked Aya when she was first introduced in PoFV, the problem is there hasn't been a game since then Aya hasn't featured in.

So yeah, after PoFV she got her own mini-game originally meant to be part of Imperishable Night because ZUN liked the idea of a game taking pictures of spell cards without ruining the pattern with bombs and shots. Aya being a character with a camera and a reporter fit so fair enough I guess, she gets her own game where she RUNS RINGS AROUND THE STRONGEST BOSSES.

Then you get Mountain of Faith, BAM, Aya is the forth stage boss with a tough survival card and dialogue where she claims she went easy on the heroines. Ok, all things considered the setting and story was perfect for Aya to make a appearance seeing as they were at the Youkai mountain where Tengu live and Aya has had experience with them before.

Then you have SWR and Aya is back as THE MOST BROKEN CHARACTER. Yes, she does kind of fit in open games like SWR because she is a reporter interested in weird goings on and gets about alot annoying people. But still, what the hell.

Finally we come to SA and Aya is back as one of Reimu's options, earning half of Reimu's dialogue annoying youkai as Reimu runs a errand for her with her assistance.

Now we are all wondering if she's going to wriggle her way into TH12 or if ZUN has got tired of his little sue.

As a whole, the SWR roster sucked. A whole five new characters, one of which we knew a year in advance of the game coming out, two brand new to the series, and the fucking rabbit. Where was Kaguya? Mokou? YUKA!?!
